QReader 3.1 Copyright 1991-1993 Yandell Computer Services
USA TODAY DECISIONLINE newspaper is one of the more popular on-line
publications available. A sample USA configuration is enclosed in
USA.ZIP for those who are already offering this service to their
callers. This DOC file assumes you have at least installed the
SAMPLE configuration according to the instructions in QUICK.DOC.
This DOC also assumes you have the daily USATODAY.ZIP file.
Follow these step-by-step instructions.
---------------------------------------
_____ Install the SAMPLE configuration FIRST!
_____ Make a sub-directory off the \QREADER directory called USA.
You should now have a directory structure that is \QREADER\USA.
_____ Extract the contents of USA.ZIP into \QREADER\USA. The file
USA.ZIP will be in \QREADER directory after extracting QREAD31.ZIP.
_____ Place your USATODAY.ZIP in \QREADER\USA (this is the location
in USA.CNF for download files).
_____ Extract your USATODAY.ZIP file into \QREADER\USA.
_____ Run QRSETUP.EXE in the \QREADER directory and select option #2
at the setup menu to modify TEXT config files. Then select E to Edit
a file. Then select USA.CNF by high-lighting it with the cursor keys
and pressing [ENTER]. Note the parameters on the screen with a drive
and locations (C:\QREADER\USA\..). Make sure the drive and locations
matches the drive and locations you have selected for QREADER. If
changes are needed (such as the drive letter) make them accordingly.
Do not alter the file names at this time.
_____ Press PgDn at the USA.CNF edit screen. Another screen will
appear with additional parameters. Notice two more parameters with
(C:\QREADER\USA...) in them. Again make sure this information is
correct, but do not alter any file names at this time.
_____ Press ESC and answer Y to save the settings.
_____ Now select option #4 at the setup menu to run QReader locally.
Select USA.CNF again, answer Y to use color (or N for no color).
_____ If these instructions have been followed properly, you should
enter the QReader door and be able to read USA.
Remember to use "H" for help when needed, especially while reading
text files in the Full Screen Reader.
