The files contained in WCLAWNET.ZIP are used to automate an ECHOmail run
using a Wildcat!/TNET/QModem combination. Included are the following
files:
CTOBBS.CFG TNET configuration file defining conferences.
WCLAWNET.FRM Member Application form.
WCLAWNET.SCR The Script to run QModem.
BYLAWS.TXT WCLawNet Bylaws for member sysops.
WCLAWNET.BAT Batch file to run in your nightly event.
READ.ME This text file.
RULES.TXT WCLawNet User rules and regulations.
MEMBERS.TXT List of WCLawNet Member Bulletin Board Systems
CONFLIST.TXT List of Conferences available on WCLAwNet
FILE_ID.DIZ Extended Description of WCLAWNET.ZIP used by BBSs
HELLO_.BBS Hello screen with legal disclaimer.
You must already have Wildcat! and TNET set up to run from your Wildcat! Home
Directory or operate a system capable of processing .QWK Mail packets.
You will need to edit the WCLAWNET.SCR, WCLAWNET.BAT and CTOBBS.CFG files to
reflect your own information and settings. Many notations have been made in
these files as to what changes are required.
SETTING UP
Use Makewild to create the Conferences, we suggest that you leave room for
extra conferences (say 4 to 6) between the <NET> Conferences and LE
Conferences and at the end of the LE Conferences so that there is space to
add to the conference groups as conferences are proposed/approved.
Make sure to set the security access levels properly giving public access
to the <NET> conferences, except the Net Admin <NET> conference which
needs to be set to Sysop access only, and only vetted law enforcement access
to the LE conferences.
The conference descriptions should have the follwing settings:
Mail type: Normal
Max conference messages: This is up to you, 100 is suggested.
Check valid name: N
Allow message attachments: This should be "Y" for the
Net Admin <NET> conference.
You need to decide if you want
the other conferences to be
able to do so or not as some
could take advantage of it and
use it to send files back and
forth long distance.
Prompt to kill received messages: Y
the rest of the conference description settings can be left at defaults.
Edit the WCLAWNET.BAT, WCLAWNET.SCR and CTOBBS.CFG files to reflect your
information.
Copy the WCLAWNET.BAT and CTOBBS.CFG files to \WC30, the Wildcat!
home directory.
Copy the WCLAWNET.SCR file to the \QMODEM\SCRIPTS\ directory.
If you do not already display a legal disclaimer screen you should do so
and can use the included HELLO_.BBS screen by renaming it to the appropiate
unused HELLO1.BBS - HELLO9.BBS and copying it to the \WC30\DISP\ directory.
Set up a soft, shell to DOS event to run WCLAWNET.BAT during nighttime
dialing hours on an "E"veryday basis.
Leave a message on the Code Three Outfitters BBS with the time that you are
going to be running the WCLAWNET.BAT. This will allow us to prescan our
outgoing QWK packet just prior to your incoming call which results in connect
time savings.
That should take care of your setup!
