  1. WnBrowse 3.4 - Release Notes
  2. -----------------------------

  4.   This release of WnBrowse fixes some bugs and adds a number of requested
  5.   features.
  6.  
  7.   Note : This version of WnBrowse requires Windows 3.1 or above. It will
  8.          NOT run under Windows 3.0 or OS/2 2.0.

  10.   New Features
  11.   ------------
  12.  
  13.   1. File size limit removed.
  14.  
  15.      Files of any size may now be browsed. However, very large files can
  16.      only be browsed as non-text files. The maximum size of files that can
  17.      be browsed as text files defaults to 12meg, but can be changed via a
  18.      parameter in WNBROWSE.INI (MaxTextSize=, see wnbrowse.txt for details).

  20.   2. Extensions to Find Facility
  21.    
  22.      The find options have been extended to include the following :
  23.  
  24.      a) The direction of search can now be specified
  25.  
  26.      b) The search can start from the top (or bottom) of the file, or
  27.         from the current file position (top or bottom of window).
  28.  
  29.      c) A new mouse shortcut has been added when using the find-next
  30.         button. If the shift key is pressed while clicking on the 
  31.         find-next button, the search direction is temporarily reversed.

  33.   3. Print Option change
  34.  
  35.      The print dialog box now contains the option to print using the
  36.      printers default font, rather than the currently selected viewing
  37.      font. In addition, the processing of form-feed characters is now 
  38.      selectable as an option, rather than being the default behaviour.

  40.   4. File Information Extended
  41.  
  42.      The File Information display has been extended to include information
  43.      about executable files. WnBrowse will recognize executables for
  44.      16 bit versions of Windows and OS/2. Also for 16 bit Windows files
  45.      WnBrowse will display the file description and version (if available).

  47.   5. Escape key option
  48.  
  49.      The default action of the Escape key can be changed by adding a
  50.      parameter to the WNBROWSE.INI file. Adding ExitOnEsc=1 will cause
  51.      WnBrowse to terminate when the Escape key is pressed. The default
  52.      action is to close the current file and iconize.

  54.   6  File Manager Browse Button
  55.  
  56.      When the WnBrowse File Manager extension is installed in the Windows
  57.      for Workgroups environment, a Browse button is available on the File
  58.      Manager Toolbar.

  60.   Bugs Fixed :
  61.   ------------

  63.   1. When using the 'scroll to top' option of find, an error beep was
  64.      produced when a text string was found near the end of the file.
  65.  
  66.   2. Viewing the contents of a Zipped file contained within a Zipped
  67.      file produced errors. WnBrowse has been changed to allow only one
  68.      level of Zip viewing.
  69.  
  70.   3. Fixed inconsistency with File open dialog.

  72.   4. Fixed problem when Cancel button was selected from Find dialog.

  74.   5. While unzipping a file for viewing on Windows 3.1 systems running
  75.      SHARE.EXE, PKUNZIP was failing with error message <W08>. WnBrowse
  76.      now closes the Zip file before invoking PKUNZIP.
