2 Disclaimer
New-Ware hereby disclaims all warranties relating to this product,
whether express or implied, including without limitation any implied
warranties of merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose. New-
Ware cannot and will not be liable for any special, incidental,
consequential, indirect or similar damages due to loss of data or any
other reason, even if New-Ware or an authorized New-Ware agent has been
advised of the possibility of such damages. In no event shall the
liability for any damages ever exceed the price paid for the license to
use software, regardless of the form and/or extent of the claim. The
user of this program bears all risk as to the quality and performance of
the software.
3 User License
ZipMaster for Windows, hereafter referred to as ZMW, is distributed
as Shareware product. As such, it is made available to the general
computing public for personal evaluation. Individual users and
corporate representatives are licensed to operate ZipMaster on their
personal computers for the purpose of test and evaluation on a trial
basis for a limited trial period. It is not possible to reasonably
define any definitive limits of a fair and equitable time period for
evaluation, therefore it is left to the user's judgment and sense of
fair play as to the time required to make a decision as to its
usefulness. If the user decides the program is not of sufficient merit
to warrant purchase through registration with New-Ware, the program
should be removed from their personal computer. Otherwise, if the
- 2 -
program is deemed useful and is in regular use on the user's personal
computer system, registration with New-Ware is required.
Registered users are those users that use the product on a regular
basis and honor the rights of New-Ware by paying for ZipMaster and
register that payment with New-Ware. By virtue of registration and
payment for the program, registered users are granted a license to
continue to utilize the program on their personal computer for as long
as they choose. This license authorizes the user to use the program on
any personal computer system he or she may own so long as the program is
operated on only one computer system at a time.
4 ZMW Shareware Version Distribution
ZMW is sole property of New-Ware Shareware products. The Shareware
version, and ONLY that version, may be freely copied and transferred to
individual parties for evaluation purposes. The Shareware version, and
ONLY that version, may be posted on Bulletin Board systems (BBS) for
electronic access as long as NO FEE is charged for its distribution
except for private BBS operations that charge a regular user
subscription fee. Computer information services such as
Compuserve(CIS), Genie, etc., are authorized to post this product for
subscriber access. The Shareware version of ZipMaster may NOT be
distributed on diskette by any disk distributor/vendor that charges more
than $7.00 for the diskette upon which the program and attendant files
are recorded without written consent from New-Ware. This does NOT apply
if the Shareware version of ZMW is distributed on a CD-ROM disk.
ZMW is a fully functional Shareware product. Shareware is a
computer program distribution/marketing method that permits potential
buyers to thoroughly try the program prior to purchase. It is NOT free
and it is not in the Public Domain. If, after evaluating the program,
you find it to be useful enough to use it on a regular basis, you are
expected to pay for it by registering with New-Ware. The registration
fee is $25.00 and the registered version, which is NOT distributed as
Shareware, will not contain the opening Shareware license screen.
The Shareware distribution of ZMW includes a Shareware license
window which always precedes the main ZMW window at run-time. Just
click on the "Order" button in this screen to invoke a simple
registration form which may be filled out, printed and mailed to New-
Ware.

- 4 -
7 Prohibition
CD-ROM disk publishers, distributors, vendors, et al are ABSOLUTELY
PROHIBITED from using ZipMaster (Shareware or registered version) as a
means of accessing the files on a CD-ROM. In plainer words, develop
your own file retrieval systems and DO NOT use this program as such! To
do so will be in violation of New-Ware's registered copyright.
8 Running ZMW
ZMW is simple to run. Place the following files in the directory
of your choice (\ZMW is suggested):
ZMW.EXE
ZMW.HLP
ZMW.INI
NEW_WARE.FON
Start Windows and select "Run..." from the Program Manager "File" pull-
down menu. Type in the full pathname of the ZMW program file. For
example, C:\ZMW\ZMW.EXE. Press the <Enter> key to execute ZMW. The
NEW_WARE.FON file is not strictly necessary but it is a highly readable
9 point fixed font that works well in file list boxes.
9 Installing ZMW
To more permanently install ZMW, select the group window in the
Program Manager in which you wish to install ZMW. Pull down the Program
Manager "File" menu and select the "New" item. Select the "Program
Item" radio button and click on the "Ok" button. Fill out the Program
Item Properties dialog as desired and press the "Ok" button when
complete. The four files listed above must be in the same directory
from which ZMW is executed.
10 The ZMW.INI File
ZMW may be customized by editing the ZMW.INI file. The supplied
file contains numerous explanatory comments, but here is one example.
Suppose you prefer to use your own Windows file browser instead of the
internal ZMW browser (LI.EXE is an excellent full-featured browser).
Enter the following line in the ZMW.INI file under the [GeneralDefaults]
category:
- 5 -
FileBrowse=D:\MYUTIL\LI.EXE
Note the full path name that points to the desired file browser. If the
full DOS path name is valid, ZMW will call your specified file browser
to view/browse text files.
It is easy to edit and maintain your ZMW.INI file because ZMW
contains a built in INI file editor that can be accessed from the main
ZMW menu.
11 ZMW Performance
ZMW does not match the compression speed of the world famous PkWare
Zip system. Nobody is as good as Phil Katz at optimizing compression
code for speed and efficiency! Compressed file size will vary according
to the compression method used and the contents of the included files.
While ZMW comes very close to PKZIP in some cases, it does not match it
in the majority of cases.
The compression speed disparity becomes less important when one
compares the ZMW progress window and ease of use to the PKZIP command
line, DOS box only environment. And in these days of Stacker and large
hard disks, most users don't need the nth degree of compression. ZMW
provides a very user-friendly, intuitive method for creating and
managing Zip compressed files.
