  1. It should be obvious to everyone concerned that I just don't have the
  2. time to hack at Freemacs anymore.  Is anyone interested in taking the
  3. program over?

  5. Here's the 1.6d release.  It's got source files!  It's faster!
  6. #(ex) swaps to extended memory (if you've got some and it's enough).
  7. It (mostly) preserves the 8th bit!  It's also NOT a public release,
  8. so please don't give copies to anyone else.  For example, there's no
  9. documentation.

  11. The 1.6b release had a few problems, like it didn't strip ;;
  12. comments, which caused it to generate too-small .edd files.  Also,
  13. M-~ didn't work.

  15. I don't remember what I changed from 1.6c.  Files still have to be
  16. smaller than 64K.

  18. Note that there are no .ED or .EDD files.  Freemacs will use _boot.min to
  19. create them if they cannot be found.

  21. Some people have expressed interest in adding comments to the various
  22. modules.  Please do so, but check with me first -- I want to avoid duplicated
  23. effort.

  26. list.  That's the only place I'm announcing this release.
