  4. I've just released a new version of xpdf, my Portable Document Format
  5. (PDF) viewer for X.
  6.  
  7. Xpdf runs under the X Window System on Unix, VMS, and OS/2.
  8.

  11. This is primiarily a bug fix release.  The most noticeable changes
  12. are:
  13.  
  14. * Moved find command from menu to toolbar button.
  15. * Support TrueColor visuals and private colormaps.
  16. * Mouse button 2 pans the window.
  17. * Selecting a URI link now executes a configurable command (e.g.,
  18.   telling a browser to open a web page).
  19. * Added a "link info" display which shows the URL or file for the link
  20.   under the mouse.
  21. * Fixed double-draw text problem with Acrobat Capture output.
  22. * Recognize all PDF 1.2 operators.
  23. * Added option for A4 paper (for PostScript output).
  24. * External Type 1 font files are now embedded.
  25. * Added option to generate Level 1 PostScript.
  26. * Now uses an autoconf script (instead of the kludgey
  27.   Makefile.config).
  28. * Lots of other little things (see the `CHANGES' file)

  30. I'm particularly interested in feedback on the new configure script,
  31. since I've only tested it on my own system.

  33. I have decryption code, but I'm not releasing it until I figure out
  34. how to get around the U.S. export restrictions.

  36. Source (C++ and C) is available, and it should be fairly easy to
  37. compile for UNIX, VMS, or OS/2.
