  21. This is README.TXT file that contains some additional information
  22. you may want to read now. If you do not want to read this file now
  23. just click CONTINUE button. You may read this file any time after
  24. installation by loading README.TXT into any text editor.

  27. Minimum Requirements:
  28. --------------------

  30.  -  IBM AT 80286 or compatible, or better
  31.  -  At least 2 MB of extended memory recommended
  32.  -  A minimum of 450 Kbytes of conventional memory
  33.  -  DOS version 3.3 or higher
  34.  -  VGA display
  35.  -  Microsoft compatible mouse
  36.  -  Approximately 8 MB free hard drive space

  40. Installation:
  41. ------------

  43. Since you are reading this now, you already started installation
  44. process and you do not have to read the rest of installation
  45. instructions.
  46.  
  47. Visual Computer Dictionary Plus must be installed onto a hard disk in
  48. order to run properly. It will not run from floppy disks.
  49.  
  50. The installation procedure will require about 10 MB of hard disk space
  51. to set itself up. Once finished, the entire program will only take up
  52. about 8 MB of hard disk space.
  53.  
  54. To install, switch over to drive A or drive B, one that contains installation
  55. disk by typing A: or B: at the DOS prompt, which then becomes the active
  56. drive. Type INSTALL and press ENTER at the DOS prompt. This will start
  57. installation process, just follow instructions that are displayed on
  58. the screen to install Visual Computer Dictionary Plus on your hard disk.
  59.  
  60. The program will be installed into a subdirectory called VDICTION on
  61. the destination drive.
  62.  
  63. Once installed, simply type VDICTION to run the program.
  64.

  67. Approximate time it takes to install Visual Computer Dictionary Plus:

  84. Running under Windows (DOS prompt DOSPRMPT.EXE):
  85. ------------------------------------------------

  87. Visual Computer Dictionary Plus will run with Windows active in the 
  88. background. If you wish to leave Windows in order to run the Visual Computer 
  89. Dictionary Plus program, you can go to the DOS prompt from Windows and 
  90. start the Visual Computer Dictionary Plus program the usual way. 
  91. When you are finished and quit Visual Computer Dictionary Plus, just type 
  92. "EXIT" at the DOS prompt to get back to Windows. You need at least 4MB 
  93. of extended memory to run Visual Computer Dictionary Plus satisfactorily 
  94. from Windows.

  98. [Alt] plus [underscored letter] keys in command buttons:

  101. Whenever you see an underscored letter in command buttons, you can
  102. also access that function by pressing the "ALT" key and the underscored
  103. letter. To go back from your present location after it is activated, 
  104. just press the "ESC" key.

  111. The Visual Computer Dictionary Plus software package is available on 
  112. 3.5 inch (1.44 MB) high density disks only!
  113.  
  114. In case you cannot use 3.5 inch high density disks to install the program 
  115. and you need 5.25 inch (1.2 MB) high density disks, please contact us as
  116. soon as possible and we will try to accommodate you with your needs.

  120. Suggestions for optimizing the Visual Computer Dictionary Plus program:
  121. ----------------------------------------------------------------------

  123. Defragment your hard drive since a fragmented drive slows down disk access.
  124.  
  125. Use a disk cache (for example SMARTDRV.EXE).
  126.  
  127. On older 80286 AT systems without extended memory, use the FASTOPEN command.

  135. 90 (ninety) days. If you experience some problems on your system, or discover
  136. some bugs while you are running  Visual Computer Dictionary Plus software,
