KeyNote Music Drills 32-Bit Version 1.51
For Windows 95Ö or Windows NTÖ 3.51
Musical Drills for Clef Notes, Keyboard, and Guitar
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Welcome to KeyNote Music Drills! This program was written to allow the
beginning music student to drill note identification on the basic music clefs
including treble clef, bass clef, and the grand staff. There are additional
drills for the alto and tenor clefs. Also, practice key identification and note
location on the keyboard, and fret identification and note location on the
guitar fingerboard. Some of the features of Keynote Music Drills include:
ò Drills for the treble clef, bass clef, alto clef, tenor clef, and grand staff
ò Keyboard drills encompasing 4 octaves
ò Guitar fingerboard drills up to the 12th fret
ò Variable timer settings for drills, individual drill items
ò Customizable pause amount to review incorrect selections
ò Customizable time limit for each drill item to simulate flash cards
ò Visual feedback via progress bar for elapsed time
ò Immediate feedback for correct and incorrect selections
ò Sound support for playback of pitches in all drills
ò Support for both waveform and MIDI audio output
ò Online help via WindowsÖ compatible help file
ò Other user options for drills, timer, and workspace
ò Support for the Windows95/NT registry
A 16-Bit version of Keynote Music Drills for WindowsÖ 3.1 or Windows for
Workgroups 3.11 is also available.
KeyNote Music Drills is Shareware and may be freely distributed as no fee is
charged and all files are shipped intact and together. You may use and evaluate
KeyNote for a 15 day free trial period. The software will, however, continue to
function after 15 days. If you decide to register your copy of KeyNote, you
will receive:
1. A serial number that will unlock the sound playback feature and disable the
registration reminders. This registration number will be valid for all future
versions of KeyNote, both 16 and 32 bit versions.
2. Free upgrades. Simply download the new shareware version from CompuServe and
use your registration number to convert it to a registered version. Your name
and company will appear in the about box after you enter your name and
registration number.
3. Notification by e-mail when future versions of KeyNote become available.
4. Free support for KeyNote directly from the author via e-mail.
TO INSTALL:
----------------------------------------------------------------------
PLEASE NOTE: You need to be running a 32-bit version of Windows which includes
Windows NT 3.51, Windows95, or Windows/Windows for Workgroups 3.11 with
Microsoft Win32s 32-bit extensions installed. You CANNOT run 32-bit KeyNote
Music Drills on plain Windows/Windows for Workgroups. A 16-bit version of
KeyNote is available on selected forums on CompuServe.
1. Select an existing directory or create a new directory named KEYNOTE.
2. Extract the files in KEYNOTE.ZIP into the selected directory.
3. Create a new Program Item in the group of your choice:
a) from the Program Manager with File/New/Program Item

b) using File Manager just drag and drop KEYNOTE.EXE from
its subdirectory onto the group of your choice.
UPGRADE NOTES:
----------------------------------------------------------------------
If you are upgrading from a previous version of KeyNote, the following
notes will assist you in attaining a successful installation:
1. For 16-Bit versions only: Compare your version of CTL3DV2.DLL in
your WINDOWS/SYSTEM directory to the one that came with KeyNote
and be sure that you are using the most recent version.
2. Starting with version 1.50, KeyNote now supports the Windows95/NT registry.
If you have used a previous version of KeyNote you may safely delete the
KEYNOTE.INI file in your Windows directory and reconfigure KeyNote to
accommodate for newer/improved options.
NOTE: Registered users will need to re-enter their registration number.
3. Starting with version 1.51, a new method of registration license number
generation has been implemented. All registered users will be notified
of their new number either by e-mail or regular mail.
