I was given an AEA PK-80 tnc which I modified for use with NET.EXE, by
adding a hex loader to permit tnc2kiss.hex to be loaded and run in the PK80.
To squeeze the loader into the 27128 EPROM I had to truncate the signon
message. The PK80 came with version 1.1.2 roms. This archive contains
the loader source (tnc2baea.mac) and an already-patched binary file
(aea112k.bin) containing the hex loader. I suspect AEA won't care that
I am providing their (patched) firmware, since the pk80 is out of pro-
duction. Incidently, I had to remove the MF-xxx filter chip which was
damaged in a lightning strike. The PK-80 works well enough without it.
Incidently, the loader I added will verify the checksums of the hex
loader records. It will loop while blinking the STA led if an error
is found. As Murphy would have it, the hex file tnc2kiss.hex was
distributed with bad checksums! I provide a corrected version in
tnc_tnc2.arc.
Operation of the loader is the same as for TAPR tnc2s ... when powered
on, the TNC awaits either reception of the hex file to program it for
KISS mode, or a control-e to identify itself, or an H to enter
the 'normal' tnc2 operation.
