W H Y ?
This is a Telix add-on which will allow you to call the
password from the phone directory of Telix by means of one of
the function keys. Why would you want to do this, you say!
Well, this gives you the advantage of having a different
password for every BBS you call. It also allows the password
to be entered using a single key. This adds to security
because you can make the password as long as you like, up to
the limits of the BBS. It also eliminates type-o's because
the computer enters your password.
H O W ?
Follow the steps below to make your very own Telix auto
password put-r-in-r!
1. Copy the file PASS.SLC into your Telix directory.
2. Start Telix.
3. ALT-K (Push the Alt and K keys. This
lets you Modify the function
keys)
4. Enter (Push the enter key)
5. E (Push the E key for Edit)
6. Function Key (Push the function key you
wish to use for your auto
password printer, F1,F2...)
7. @PASS.SLC (Type this in)
8. Enter (Push the enter key)
9. Space (Push the Space Bar to exit)
10. S (Push S to save the Data)
11. Enter (To complete the save)
12. X (To exit)
Put passwords for the BBS's you call into the place provided
in the phone directory.
Now, when you call the BBS, and connect, and it ask for your
password, just push the Function key you choose to use in
step 6 above, your password will be sent automatically.
You can also add your name into one of the function keys so
all you have to do to log on to a BBS, is hit one key for
your name and the other for your password.
To enter your name, use steps 3 thru 12 above. At step 7,
enter your name, or whatever. Of course, use a different
function key from the one used with your password.
