SEE - Version 1.1
Version 1.1 fixes a bug in the previous version (1.0) which was causing users
to get the error message "Not enough memory to load file", when in fact there
was more than enough memory to load a file. You should now be able to load
at least an 80 page document (more or less depending on your machine and any
TSR's you have loaded) without any problems. I apologize to all those users
who encountered this program bug and I wish to thank J. Heinis for bringing
it to my attention.

SEE - Version 1.0
Written by Jim Morgenthaler
SEE was developed as a superior alternative to the Dos "TYPE" command when
needing to view a text file. With the "TYPE" command you are unable to go
backwards to view what has scrolled off of the screen and you must constantly
press the 'pause' key to stop the scrolling. In order to get around the
scrolling problem, many people use the Dos filter "MORE" when viewing a text
file (for example MORE<FILENAME.EXT). While this does pause the scrolling for
each page, it still does not eliminate the problem of having to go backwards
through the file.
Well, now there is a solution to the problem...SEE! SEE will allow you to
scroll forwards AND backwards through a text file at YOUR convenience. You can
either go through the file line by line, or use the PageUp/PageDown keys, or
even use the Home/End keys to navigate the file. For those extra long files
when you need to get to a line quick, you can use the "Go To" key (F1). Just
press the F1 key, enter the line number you wish to go to and you're there!
Need to print a file? Yes, the Dos "TYPE" command can do that by redirecting
the output to the printer, but what if you don't want to print the entire file?
Again, SEE wins hands down! Press the F2 key (Print) and fill in the range of
lines YOU want to print and let SEE do it's thing.
SEE is perfect for those times when you would like to save some or all of a
file into another file. Just press the F3 key (Save), fill in the range of
lines you want to save and the file name to save them into and press enter.
SEE will create the new file and extract those lines into that file.
After you exit SEE (which you do by hitting the ESC key), your screen is
displayed just like it was before entering SEE. No longer do you have to
reissue a DIR command or some other nonsense. SEE leaves things just the way
it found them.
All you need to do to start SEE is enter the command SEE FILENAME.EXT and SEE
will go to work. For example, to SEE this file just enter the command
SEE SEEINFO.DOC. If you forget to enter the file name, SEE will show you the
proper command line usage of the program.
For best results with SEE (and if you are using a hard drive), put SEE in your
Dos subdirectory and add the line "PATH C:\DOS" (where DOS is your
subdirectory's name) to your AUTOEXEC.BAT. This will ensure that SEE can be
accessed no matter where you are in your hard drive.
SEE is being distributed as ShareWare, which means you have the opportunity to
try it before you buy it. Once you've tried it I'm sure you'll SEE just how
easy and practical SEE is. You don't have to pay for it until you've tried it
and SEEn for yourself what an invaluable addition to your computer library SEE
will be. If, however, you do continue to use this program you need to register
your copy with the author.
