@1ST BIG TIMES = <B>The NPE BBS Network.<D> What does it mean to you?
It means that a modem is your ticket to the finest & largest desktop
publishing BBS network in the world!
@ARTICLE TEXT = Literally 1000's of files, active discussion bases
and conferences on a wide variety of subjects, and most importantly
a forum for support for your own questions and problems. That's what
the National Publisher's Exchange is all about; bringing you the best
at a price you can afford.
@ARTICLE TEXT =
@ARTICLE TEXT = What kinds of things can you find on a typical NPE
board. Well, first let me say that a ``typical'' NPE board is not
very typical. Each one is a highly specialized information exchange.
Desktop publishing and related issues are the thrust of each system.
And the individual SYSOPs (<B>SYS<D>tem <B>OP<D>erators) are some
of the best in the country; each always willing to participate and
offer insight into system discussions..
@ARTICLE TEXT =
@ARTICLE TEXT = The NPE BBSs also offer the finest and widest selection
of the latest desktop publishing related files for downloading and
sharing. This means thousands of pieces of clip art, laser soft fonts,
DTP utilities, program specific files (for Ventura, Pagemaker etc.),
and even fully produced documents that you download, load into your
DTP program and print just as the designer made it!
@ARTICLE TEXT =
@ARTICLE TEXT = Speaking of the fully produced documents, the NPE
boards were the source of the first documents to be distributed this
way. Both the <BI>NPE Monthly<D> and <BI>WYSIWYG!<D> magazine were
the first to be published fully produced and distributed electronically
via BBSs and larger telecomm systems.
@ARTICLE TEXT =
@ARTICLE TEXT = Along with a truly incredible selection of files,
the NPE Network of BBSs also contains a number of discussion forums
that cover the entire gamut of desktop publishing issues. At the <B>Western
Publisher's Exchange<D> for example, you'll find one of the most active
DTP discussion bases in the country. <B>Cooperworks/Jamestown BBS<D>
has a very active laser printer conference crammed full of informative
messages. <B>DataCOM Super Systems<D> has massive file sections full
of HP soft fonts, scanned art work, Ventura chapters, Postscript screen
fonts, and MS Windows files.
@ARTICLE TEXT =
@ARTICLE TEXT = This month we're proud to welcome the <B>Ventura Publisher
Users' Group<D> (VPUG) of San Jose, CA to our ever-growing list of
affiliated BBS systems. VPUG is the home of the <BI>Ventura Publishes...
<D>magazine, $36 a year, and worth every penny!<BI>
@ARTICLE TEXT =
@ARTICLE TEXT = The <B>NPE BBS Network<D> offers you a wealth of desktop
publishing information for just the price of a phone call! Some of
the associate BBS systems charge an annual access fee so be sure to
read the new user intro screens for complete details on each BBS's
policies. <188>
