  1. FANTOMAS SOFTWARE PACKAGE - INTRO

  4. For more details read the User Guide, which can be generated by
  5. the FANTODOC module, which is included in the FANTOMAS.EXE
  6. (Function Key 5). So run FANTOMAS and produce the complete
  7. Fantomas user guide!

  9. The Fantomas Software Package is written in SNOBOL4 (SPITBOL).
  10.  
  11. The Fantomas Software Package can be used for file conversion and
  12. file peeking at byte level. This means that special characters such
  13. as line feeds and carriage returns can participate in the conversion
  14. and peeking as well. Amongst others FANTOMAS can perform universal
  15. changes in files in using user-defined FANTOMAS patterns.

  17. The Fantomas Software Package is extremely useful when you want to
  18. convert files from one type into another. Very often the Fantomas
  19. Software Package is used to convert files from one text formatting
  20. system (like Wordperfect, TEX, Waterloo Script etc.) into another.

  22. The Fantomas Software Package consists of five different modules,
  23. which can be used separately:

  25.          FANTOMAS    A Universal File Converter at byte level
  26.          FANTOSEE    A Universal File Peeker/Browser at byte level
  27.          FANTOMED    An editor for generating Fantomas patterns
  28.          FANTOREP    A replacer of string patterns in files
  29.          FANTODOC    The program which generates a file with
  30.              comment on the Fantomas Software Package
