LASERJET SETUP UTILITY 5.04 June,. 1989
_____________________________________________
This is the readme file for LSU 5.04. Included in this package
(either on disk or in an archive) are the following files:
LSU.COM - the program file
ORDER.FRM - form to register your copy of LSU
README.1ST - this file
LSU504.DOC - the documentation file
PRINTDOC.BAT - a batch file to automate printing the docs
NEW FEATURES:
Completely customizable font control: LSU now lets you edit
the menu text and the control codes that are sent to the menu
from the main Font menu. This allows for soft font support.
Batch mode: invoking LSU with the /B parameter sends a
specific custom code to the Laserjet.
Direct COM1 addressing: for circumstances when your serial
Laserjet cannot be address via LPT1, you can now choose to
address the COM port directly.
Default Return Address: in the envelope editor, there is now
a default return address. This is user definable.
Model II support: LSU can now position envelopes correctly
for either the Laserjet I or the Laserjet Model II and IID.
Less memory required: at the cost of eliminating features
that were not directly related to the handling of the HP
Laserjet, LSU in this version requires 30K less memory in TSR
mode while adding significant features.
Additions and fixes in version 5.03:
Fixed bug with TSR routine which caused occassional crashes.
Fixed bug with printing envelopes directly to COM1.
Added the ability to trap printer errors (offline, out of
paper, off) when printer is connected to the parallel port).
Planned for future releases:
Ability to grab addresses directly from the screen.
A label editor that will import comma delimited files (a
format that most databases can create) and print sheets of
labels in several sizes.
Better error correction.
And direct soft font support.
Please note that a significant feature of the program (saving
defaults) requires that the program named remain unchanged.
Feel free to distribute this collection to your friends and
associates, as long as all files are kept together and unmodified;
and as long as no fee is charged (other than nominal media charges).
