MEGALINK
External File Transfer Protocol
for
Opus CBCS 1.00
THIS PROGRAM IS RELEASED TO THE PUBLIC DOMAIN. NO LIABILITY FOR
ITS USE IS ASSUMED AND NO PERFORMANCE OR FUNCTION GUARANTEES
EXIST. THE USER ASSUMES FULL RESPONSIBILITY FOR ITS USE.
MEGALINK is a streaming file transfer protocol developed by Paul
Meiners of P & M Software. Paul sells an excellent shareware
communications product called GT-POWER. MEGALINK is an efficient
protocol that works very well in difficult environments such as
Satellite transmission or PC Pursuit. It compares favorably with
other popular streaming protocols.
Megalink specifications have been donated to the Public Domain.
The original source code for this special Opus version of MEGALINK
was written by Paul Meiners and debugged by two Opus sysops in
Houston. It follows the rules for external protocols in Opus and
can be added by simply editing the Opus control file. As of this
writing, there are two other known versions of the Megalink
protocol available, but this is the only one known to fully
function with Opus and use the fossil communications driver. It
has been tested on a Compaq Plus, a 286 clone, and a Tandy 2000.
It has also been tested under DoubleDos and Desqview v2.01 with
Opus 1.03a. Batch file transfers work in both upload and
download modes.
INSTALLATION
Place the file OMLINK.COM in your Opus directory. Add this line
to your Opus control file and re-compile it:
External Protocol C:\OPUS\OMLINK.COM
That's all there is to it. I hope your users appreciate the
addition to your system.
