  1. HERCSAVE is a resident screen blanker written specifically for Hercules (tm)
  2. and compatible monochrome graphics cards.  It blanks using safe, reliable
  3. routines that work in both the text and graphics video modes of the HGC.

  5. The program features the ability to blank after a specified time, or when a
  6. certain key combination is pressed.  Both of these options can be specified
  7. when the program is first loaded or after it is in memory.  This allows you to
  8. disable HERCSAVE to avoid conflicts with programs that don't behave well with
  9. screen blankers.  HERCSAVE also allows you to remove it from memory
  10. completely.  Shareware registration is only $15.

  16. This version of hercsave changes the command syntax.  Please read the new
  17. syntax carefully before using.

  21. Syntax: HERCSAVE /Tseconds [options]
  22.  
  23.  /t - TIME before screen blanks.  This option must be specified to install the
  24.       program as there is no default.  To disable time-out blanking enter /T0.
  25.  /h - HOT-KEY to force blank where 1=Right Shift, 2=Left Shift, 4=CTRL, and
  26.       8=ALT.  Select any combination of toggle (shift) keys by adding the
  27.       desired codes together.  The default is <ALT><Left Shift>.  To disable
  28.       hot-key forced blanking enter /H0.
  29.  /o - OPTIONAL retrace screen blanking method.  The default method is vertical
  30.       size modification.
  31.  /u - UNINSTALLS or removes the program from memory.

  33. The TIME and HOT-KEY options may be changed after the program is loaded with
  34. the same syntax used to install.

  36. For example, "HERCSAVE /T300 /H3" would install HERCSAVE to blank after about
  37. 5 minutes of keyboard inactivity, and would allow a forced blank by pressing
  38. <LSHIFT><RSHIFT>.  HERCSAVE would blank and restore by modifying the vertical
  39. size register.

  41. To print the documentation, at the command prompt type "copy hercsave.doc prn"
  42. without the quotes.
