  3.                 WHAT'S NEW IN WPTOOLS VERSION 5.0?
  4.  
  5. Version 5.0 contains revisions to permit use with both Versions 5.1 
  6. and 5.0 of WordPerfect (and some programs work with PlanPerfect 5.0 
  7. and perhaps the new DrawPerfect).  There are also two new programs in 
  8. Supplemental Tools and some minor improvements and bug fixes beyond 
  9. revisions to handle 5.1.  (Versions 4.0D and E were not widely 
  10. distributed, so that for most users, the 4.0D changes are also 
  11. relevant.)

  13. New Programs (in Supplemental Tools -- not in shareware distribution)

  15.  
  16. STYLEUSE    --  Lists styles used in a document and styles found in 
  17.                 the prefix but not used. Optionally deletes unused (or 
  18.                 all) styles from the prefix.  Optionally deletes style 
  19.                 on and off codes from document text, leaving the codes 
  20.                 added to the text by the styles. 
  21.  
  22. WPGSIZE     --  Extracts and lists information on the width and height 
  23.                 of the "image coordinate space" of WPG file graphics, 
  24.                 optionally sorted.

  29. FIXPRE      --  (a)  Minor changes to handle WPerf 5.1.
  30.                 (b)  Now optionally traverses a directory tree.
  31.                 (c)  Minor modifications to handle PlanPerfect

  34. FONTFILE    --  Minor changes to handle WPerf 5.1.

  36. FONTLIST    --  (a) Improved deletion of non-fonts from output.

  47. MERGESUM    --  (a) Revised to handle the WP51 document summary 
  48.                 format.  Output by default in new format, with option 
  49.                 to use format of prior versions of MERGESUM.  New 
  50.                 format includes all information in WPerf 5.1 
  51.                 summaries, plus WPerf version number.
  52.                 (b) Handles dates in WP50 document summary format 
  53.                 written in European format (e.g., 3 March 1990) and in 
  54.                 French and Spanish.  Improved handling of dates in 
  55.                 Dutch.

  57. PRSFONTS    --  Minor changes to handle WPerf 5.1 PRS files.

  59. STYLIST     --  Revised to handle Outline Styles.

  81. ENDFOOT     --  Bug fixed that caused failure converting large files.

  83. LISTMACS    --  Revision to handle inability to process macros that
  84.                 both are created in WPCorp's external macro editor and
  85.                 lack descriptions.  Problem had caused program crash
  86.                 with error message.  Problem did not affect macros
  87.                 created within WPerf itself.

  94. MAKETABS    --  (a)  Bug fixed in processing of right tabs.  Bug
  95.                      resulted in failure to delete spaces even though
  96.                      right tab was inserted in certain circumstances;
  97.                 (b)  Will no longer insert a right tab before a string
  98.                      that ends with a space and includes other
  99.                      characters;
  100.                 (c)  New optional treatment of blanks within strings
  101.                      to be right tabbed.

  103. MERGESUM    --  (a)  Comment field for documents lacking 
  104.                      document summary revised to more closely
  105.                      approximate the way WPerf creates comments (i.e.,
  106.                      semicolons replace hard returns);
  107.                 (b)  Barry Zimmerman's WPDOCS.NB Notebook file is now
  108.                      distributed with WPTOOLS to aid in manipulating
  109.                      MERGESUM output.

  115. FIXPRE      --  Fixes for two bugs introduced in WPTOOLS 4.0A:
  116.                 (a) Limitation of input file specification to 12
  117.                     characters removed;
  118.                 (b) Eliminates garbage output where -A option is
  119.                     used and no files have archive bit set.
  120.  
  121. MERGESUM    --  (a) Fixes potentially unreadable output when volume
  122.                     has no label and DOS 3.0 or greater is used (bug
  123.                     introduced in WPTOOLS 4.0);
  124.                 (b) Fixes erroneous numerical version of file creation
  125.                     date for months beginning with M (bug in all prior
  126.                     versions of MERGESUM).

  213. COMMENTS    --  Reads a WP5 document and writes to standard output
  214.                 any comments it finds.
  215.  
  216. ENDFOOT     --  Converts footnotes to endnotes (or endnotes to
  217.                 footnotes), converting autoreferences as
  218.                 appropriate.
  219.  
  220. MASTER      --  Analyzes stucture of master document - subdocument
  221.                 relationships.
  222.  
  223. TARGETS     --  Lists autoreference targets, indentifying those who
  224.                 are not referenced in the document.  Lists
  225.                 autoreference references identifying those which refer
  226.                 to nonexistent targets.
