How bulletins work
Bulletins are just normal text files with funnyì
names; BULLETIN.1 to BULLETIN.99. Fido's B)ulletin commandì
lists all of the bulletin files and displays the first lineì
from each as the "title" of the bulletin.
For example, you chose this bulletin as #1, and it'sì
title was "How bulletins work", which is also the first lineì
of this file.
The format of this file is "word wrapped", and isì
fairly common. WordStar, Pmate, and many other programsì
generate this file format. If you TYPE it in DOS, it mayì
look funny; but when viewed with Fido, paragraphs will beì
wrapped to conform to the callers set screen dimensions.
You can also use plain ASCII text files, withì
returns at the end of each line. These work fine, but Fidoì
can't wrap the paragraphs as neatly for narrow screens.
