SYSOP.HLP Copyright Tom Jennings 1 Sept 1987
\?
SYSOP is the Fido/FidoNet utility used to manipulate theì
caller list, CALLER.SYS. It is fairly simple to use; forì
help with a specific command, hit ? again, then the commandì
key you want help with.
\l
Searches the caller list for a specific name or partì
of a name. Entering "AN" will find: Brand, Stan, Anthony,ì
etc. It is not case sensitive. The search starts the theì
NEXT record, and ends when a match is found. If during theì
search the end of the file is reached, it then proceeds fromì
the beginning of the file until it reaches the original ....ì
starting point or finds a match. Typing ESCape will stop theì
search.
\-
Goes backwards one record.
\<

\+
Goes forward one record.
\>
Goes forward one record.
\b
Goes to the first record in the caller file.
\e
Goes to the the last record in the caller file.
\i
Input a new name. This merely creates a new, blankì
caller record at the end of the file. You need to fill inì
the user name, password, city and any other desired featuresì
and options. Note that Sysop will let you leave importantì
parts such as the name or password blank; Fido will notì
allow you to log in with these however.
\a
Enter a caller address.
\w
Enter a new password. Please do not leave it blank,ì
as Fido will not let this caller sign on. (Use this sideì
effect to "lock out" names you don't want used; "ALL" etc
\p
Set the callers privilege level; 0 is the lowestì
(see specific cautions on Privilege level 0 in Fido'sì
manual) and 4 is the highest. 7 is for Sysop levelì
privileges. See the manual also for side effects of theì
various privilege levels.
\g
Exits to DOS.
\o
"Stamps" caller records by age; this is used toì
purge callers who have not called into the system in a longì
time. This prompts for the age of callers to stamp, in days.ì
Each caller record in the file is then checked; if it isì
this age or older it is marked (STAMPED); records under thisì
are have any stamp removed. (Use A)ge-Stamp "1000 days" toì
effectively remove all stamps from all records.)
The ! Purge-Stamped command can be used toì
permanently remove all (STAMPED) records from the file. Alsoì
get HELP! on the S)tamp, ! Purge-Stamped and U)n-Stampì
commands.
\s
Mark the current caller record as (STAMPED). The !ì
Purge Stamped command can be used to permanently remove allì
(STAMPED) records from the file. The U)n-Stamp commandì
removes the stamp. Also get HELP! on the S)tamp, U)n-Stampì
and ! Purge-Stamped commands.
\u
Remove any stamp from the current record. Also getì
HELP! with the A)ge-Stamp, S)tamp and ! Purge-Stampedì
commands.
\$
Add money to the callers credit field. The numberì
you enter is ADDED to any amount already there. To clearì
credit first, (such as to set a specific value), enter NONE.ì
The callers debit will be subtracted from the credit beforeì
adding any additional amount.
\m
Set the default Message Area the caller is in whenì
they log in. This is generally only used when each caller isì
locked into a specific Message Area, ie. they cannot accessì
the A)rea-Change command from within Fido. Please refer toì
the manual for details.
\f
Set the default File Area the caller is in when theyì
log in. This is generally only used when each caller isì
locked into a specific File Area, ie. they cannot access theì
A)rea-Change command from within Fido. Please refer to theì
manual for details.
\!
Permanantly purges all (STAMPED) callers from theì
CALLER.SYS file. Please refer to HELP! on the A)ge-Stamp andì
S)tamp commands before using. Purged records are placed inì
the file CALLER.OLD. A backup copy of the original callerì
file is made in CALLER.BAK.
\k
Add or remove keys from the callers record. To addì
keys, just enter the key number or numbers, 1 to 32.
1 add key #1
2 3 27 add keys 2, 3, 27
-16 remove key 16
-2 -7 remove keys 2 and 7
NONE remove all keys
\r
Resets the callers accumulative limits: accumulatedì
download and accumulated connect time.
\c
This does a very stringent integrity check on theì
displayed caller record. It is intended for recoveringì
damaged caller records. It will force name, password andì
city to be printable USASCII (note: may remove extended andì
international characters), checks and repairs msg and fileì
area numbers, last-msg-read counters and other internalì
data. Please be sure to manually enter any missing orì
incorrect fields.
\#
Position to a specific record number.
