  13. [ This is the Dalton Porter Benchmark Utility, version 1.3, to test
  14. speed of MS-DOS systems.  Examination of code reveals the error message
  15. "This video mode is not supported" suggesting that the utility may be
  16. doing direct writes to screen hardware.  It works fine on my system
  17. with VGA hardware.

  19. The speed of the CPU is tested.  It's not clear which CPU instructions
  20. are being tested, and whether there is any attempt to simulate a
  21. typical instruction queue in case of those CPUs that do pipelining.
  22. The final screen gives you the speed as compared to an AT&T 6300 and
  23. and a 20 MHz 80386-based system.

  25. To avoid confusion with typical "du" (disk usage) utilities, I renamed
  26. the archive, originally du.arc, to dpbu.arc.
