  9. UPGRADING FROM MENU MASTER ?
  10.  
  11. If you are upgrading from Menu Master 1.50 or 2.12, you should be aware that
  12. PC Dashboard (PCD) keeps track of your menu settings in a different manner
  13. from Menu Master.  Because of this, your Menu Master menu settings file
  14. (MENU.STG or MMSTR.STG) will NOT be recognized by PCD.  You will need to
  15. re-enter all of your previous menu settings into PCD.  (Sorry!)
  16. We suggest that you print out the Menu Master .STG file and use it as
  17. reference in re-keying your settings.  Re-entering settings shouldn't take
  18. very long and will give you a chance to take advantage of PC Dashboard's
  19. many enhanced features.

  21. Also, be sure to delete Menu Master's MENU.BAT file before installing
  22. PC Dashboard onto your hard disk.  PC Dashboard also makes use of a file
  23. entitled MENU.BAT, which is different in content from the one used by Menu
  24. Master.

  28. UPGRADING FROM EARLIER VERSION OF PC DASHBOARD ?
  29.  
  30. To upgrade from an earlier version to PCD v1.12, simply copy the v1.12
  31. files into your computer's C:\PCDASH subdirectory, overwriting any older
  32. files by the same name.  At a minimum, you should use the new PCDASH.EXE,
  33. MENU.BAT, and PCD.BAT files (all of these have changed).  If you received
  34. your copy from No Sweat Software, you can use the INSTALL.EXE program to do
  35. this upgrade for you.  Simply place the program disk into Drive A, and enter
  36. A:INSTALL.  The INSTALL.EXE program will guide you through a couple of very
  37. easy steps.

  41. USING A MONOCHROME (NON-COLOR) MONITOR ?
  42.  
  43. Earlier versions of PC Dashboard had trouble displaying properly on some
  44. monochrome composite-type monitors.  Beginning with Version 1.07, the FIRST
  45. time PC Dashboard is run, you will be asked whether or not you are using a
  46. color monitor.  Your monitor-type will be recorded in the PCDASH.CFG file
  47. and you'll not be asked this question again, unless PCDASH.CFG is erased for
  48. some reason.  You can switch between color and monochrome modes if you wish
  49. later by re-setting the new "Color Display" option in the System Options
  50. Window ( /SO ).  See Page 31 in the Licensed User's Manual for information
  51. on changing System Options.

  55. Returning from "DOS Gateway" - the EXIT Command:

  57. As long as you use the MENU.BAT and PCD.BAT files that come with version 1.08 
  58. (and beyond), there is no need to worry about loading PC Dashboard on top of 
  59. itself.  the manual warns against typing "MENU" to return from a "Gateway" or 
  60. DOS Shell session (see Page 24 in Licensed User's Manual).  Beginning with 
  61. version 1.08, you may type "MENU" or "EXIT" without any concern of running 
  62. out of memory.  PC Dashboard will not load another copy on top of itself in 
  63. memory.

  67. PCDSH1.ARC File has been changed
  68.  
  69. Your manual will reference the PCDSH1.ARC file as the proper archived format
  70. of PC Dashboard's evaluation version for uploading to electronic bulletin
  71. boards.  With the introduction of Version 1.10, the name of this file has
  72. been changed to PCDSH6.ARC.
