@FIRST PAR = The <MU>Fundamentals<D> - The easiest way to both buy
and use type - BAR NONE!
What we have done is to select typefaces that work well together and
grouped them by application into special packages. You merely pinpoint
your needs...then match those needs to a suitable package in the series.
And the quality of the faces is so good, it can elevate any document
from the ordinary to the extraordinary. The Fundamentals is performance,
pure and simple.
The following is s quick description of our Fundamentals packages:
Flyers, Books & Manuals, Newsletters:
@SUBHEAD = - Newsletters
Well suited for those who produce corporate communications, newsletters,
pamphlets, or other like short-form documents. Newsletters contains
all the faces in our Swiss, Charter and Headlines Typeface packages
(12 typefaces in all). A guide to the faces:
@BULLET = Swiss: Our version of Helvetica. Well suited for text of
any length, headlines, or signage. An exceptionally readable face
that mixes well with many other faces.
@BULLET = Charter: Clear in its letterforms and economical in copyfit.
It performs as well on medium resolution laser printers as on high
resolution typesetters.
@BULLET = Headlines 1: Bitstream Cooper Black: In 1924, Oswald Cooper
created Cooper Black for 'far sighted printers with near sighted customrers'.
@BULLET = University Roman: A lighthearted highly ornamental face. University
Roman is well suited for greeting cards and announcements.
@BULLET = Blackletter: Blackletter arouses reverence because as the
first face adapted for movable type, it was used by Gutenberg to print
the Bible.
@BULLET = Broadway: It was the Jazz age and wild display types were
the rage. And the pick of the bunch was Broadway.
@SUBHEAD = - Books & Manuals
Selected for those customers who prepare text books, operating manuals,
technical documents, or other longer form documents. Books & Manuals
contains the 12 faces in our Dutch, Baskerville and Zapf Calligraphic
packages. A Profile of the Typefaces:
@BULLET = Dutch: Our version of Times Roman. Highly readable and
suited for a range of applications. Useful for long copy blocks when
space is at a premium.
@BULLET = Baskerville: A staple for bookwork and continuous text
of any kind. By any measure, an effortlessly readable typeface.
@BULLET = Zapf Calligraphic: A script so neat, it seems to come gift
wrapped. Zapf Calligraphic is the youngest of these three faces. Yet,
in a relatively short time, it's established itself as a splendid
book and generic purpose face.
@SUBHEAD = - Flyers
Selected for those customers who produce flyers, display advertising,
and other promotional literature. Flyers contains all the faces in
our eyecatching Headlines 2, Headlines 4 and Futura Light typeface
packages. A few words about the faces:
@BULLET = Headlines 2: Brush Script: Derived from Bauhaus theories
of geometric perfection. An ingenious sans serif with deceptively
simple style.
@BULLET = Hobo: These letters curve around words with a relaxed informality.
@BULLET = Windsor: Unconventional shapes and odd angles make Windsor
a genuine eccentric.
@BULLET = Headlines 4: Coronet Bold: An unconnected script, both
flowing and articulate. Coronet Bold complements a number of sans
serif light faces.
@BULLET = Zapf Chancery Medium Italic: A small and handsome script. Chancery
is a favorite for invitations.
@BULLET = Clarendon & Clarendon Bold: A triumphant display face. Clarendon
is ideal for posters, announcements, advertising and other short text.
@BULLET = Futura LIght: Renews Long text. Medium Condensed is practical
for callouts. Extra Black is an excellent choice for headlines.
