  20. INSTRUCTIONS FOR USING DROP-CAP
  21.  
  22.  
  23. 1. Copy all, or a selection of the files, to x:\TYPESET directory
  24.  
  25. 2. To add ornaments to your page layout in Ventura, draw a frame 
  26. about four by five picas at the location -- usually at the head 
  27. of the first paragraph -- then select "Load Text/Picture"
  28.  
  29. 3. Choose "Image" and the Gem/Halo DPE window should highlight.
  30. Click OK. When the item selector menu appears, click on the black 
  31. button to display directories. Choose TYPESET.
  32.    A list of files will be shown, all beginning with DC_ followed 
  33. by a number and a letter, or a title.
  34.  
  35.    01 represents SOMETIMES (this disk), 02 SCHWARTZ, 03 CLARIDGE, 
  36. 04 STADIUM are additional disks now available from ProGraf.
  37.  
  38.    Scroll down to select the drop capital letter you require.
  39.  
  40. 4. The letter or item will now enter the active frame. To adjust, 
  41. select "Sizing & Scaling". Click on "By Scale Factors" and 
  42. "Maintained". This will reveal the actual size of the incoming 
  43. file. Make Frame Width and Frame Height the same size as shown in 
  44. Scale Width and Scale Height. Click back to "Fit in Frame", then OK
  45.    To make smaller images, use proportional measurements.
  46.  
  47. 5. Finally, select the 2X viewing, and make the fine adjustment 
  48. of the letter or ornament relative to the line of text or design.
  49.  
  50. 6. You can remove all DROP-CAP files in DOS by typing
  51.          CD\TYPESET 
  52.          DEL DC_*.* 
  53.  
  54. Reload selected DROP-CAPS when required as in 1 above.
  55.  
  56. If you want to see what you've got, fire up VP: choose 
  57. DEFAULT.STY
  58.  
  59. Simply draw small frames all over the underlying page and call up 
  60. each file from TYPESET. Adjust to size, or reduce by scaling 
  61. factors.
  62. Use BOXTEXT to annotate what the file name for each DROP-CAP or 
  63. Doodad represents. Print and save the sheet in your personal file 
  64. for future reference. You never know when you want some special 
  65. ornament for the job in hand.
