Although electric mixers had been in existence since 1918, the credit for the first food processor goes to Englishman Ken Wood. In 1950 he invented a machine, which, apart from mixing, could perform numerous other tasks such as shredding, liquidising and mincing.
Marketed under the brand name Kenwood, the device has weathered the years and received numerous updates. It achieved major success in commercial kitchens where individual units were found to last as long as twenty years, as well as in domestic markets around the world.
