  4. 500 years ago, Shang Tsung was banished to the Earth Realm. With the aid of 
  5. Goro he was to unbalance the furies and doom the planet to a chaotic 
  6. existence.
  7.  
  8. By seizing control of the Shaolin Tournament he tried to tip the scales of 
  9. order towards chaos. Only seven warriors survived the battles and Shang 
  10. Tsung's scheme would come to a violent end at the hands of Liu Kang.

  12. Facing execution for his failure and the apparent death of Goro, Tsung 
  13. convinces Shao Kahn to grant him a second chance.
  14.  
  15. Shang Tsung's new plan is to lure his enemies to compete in the Outworld 
  16. where they will meet certain death by Shao Kahn himself.

  34. After winning the Shaolin Tournament from Shang Tsung's clutches Kang 
  35. returns to his temples. He discovers his sacred home in ruins, his Shaolin 
  36. brothers killed in a vicious battle with a horde of Outworld warriors. Now 
  37. he travels into the Dark Realm to seek revenge.
