  2.      COMMAND & CONQUER UPDATE PATCH.   VERSION 1.07 ----> VERSION 1.08a

  5. The patch file for Command & Conquer updates version 1.07 to version 1.08a.
  6.  
  7. To install the patch file, simply copy the PATCH.EXE and PATCH.RTP files to
  8. the directory that you installed Command & Conquer to (this is usually the
  9. C:\C&C directory).   After the files are copied, simply type PATCH to begin
  10. the update process.

  14. This update addresses these four items :

  17. 1. WINDOWS 95 MODEM PLAY.
  18. --------------------------------------------------------------------------
  19.  
  20.      This patch improves modem play under Windows 95 for some people.
  21.      It is still highly recommended that you turn error correct/data
  22.      compression off on your modem with the correct initialization
  23.      string.  Check your modem manual for more information about this.

  29. 2. USR 14,400/28,800 UART SPEED.
  30. --------------------------------------------------------------------------

  32.      Addresses USR Robotics modem connect problems at 14,400 or 28,800
  33.      baud.

  38. 3. DIAMOND VIPER PALETTE/COLOR PROBLEM.
  39. --------------------------------------------------------------------------

  41.      Addresses a special problem detected in DIAMOND VIPER video card
  42.      support.   After running this patch, users experiencing this
  43.      problem will need to edit the COMMAND.INI file.   Find the area
  44.      of the COMMAND.INI file that says [OPTIONS] then add the following
  45.      text on the line directly below :

  49.      Save the COMMAND.INI file with the new changes.

  54. 4. MOVIES DO NOT PLAY WHEN CD IS SWAPPED.

  57.      Addresses the fact that briefings and cutscenes do not appear if
  58.      you choose the NOD disk when playing from disk 1, or any time
  59.      that you swap disks.
