  17. 1.  Copy PAWV01.ZIP into the main Pacific Air War directory (ex. \MPS\1942).
  18. 2.  Unzip the file using PKUNZIP version 2.04 (ex. "PKUNZIP PAWV01.ZIP") The 
  19.     two files 1942.EXE and DATA.CDF will copy over the old files.

  25.                               JOYSTICK PATCH FOR
  26.  
  27.                           1942: The Pacific Air War
  28.                           -------------------------
  29.  
  30.           This patch implements additional joystick support for the 
  31.           Thrustmaster FCS and CH Products Flightstick Pro which was 
  32.           not present in the initial version of 1942: The Pacific Air 
  33.           War:
  34.  
  35.              1)  The Flightstick Pro from CH Products is now fully
  36.                  supported.  To use it, go to the Configure Game
  37.                  menu from the main menu and select Flightstick Pro
  38.                  from CH Products as your Camera Control device.
  39.  
  40.              2)  The hat controller on the FCS stick from Thrustmaster
  41.                  is now fully supported.  To use it, go to the
  42.                  Configure Game menu from the main menu and select
  43.                  FCS Hat from Thrustmaster as your Camera Control
  44.                  device.  (Note that you cannot use the FCS hat and
  45.                  a throttle wheel or slider at the same time)

  47.           The hat controller on both the Flightstick Pro and the FCS
  48.           perform in the following manner:

  50.           FROM THE VIRTUAL COCKPIT, CHASE VIEW, AND ROAM VIEW:
  51.  
  52.                  The hat controller is used to smoothly change the
  53.                  direction in which you are looking.  Holding down
  54.                  button #2 on the joystick allows you to change the
  55.                  view direction by moving the joystick itself.
  56.                  In the Virtual Cockpit, the view can be centered on
  57.                  the gun sight by pressing the 'c' key on the
  58.                  keyboard, or by pressing and releasing button #2 on
  59.                  the joystick.

  61.           FROM THE TAILGUNNER VIEW AND TRACKING VIEW:

  63.                  The hat controller is not used in these modes.

  65.           FROM ALL OTHER VIEWS:

  67.                  Moving the hat controller in the following directions
  68.                  changes to the specified view:
  69.  
  70.                  FORWARD (UP):    Gives the Forward Cockpit or Gun
  71.                                   Sight view

  73.                  LEFT:            Gives the Left Wing view
  74.  
  75.                  RIGHT:           Gives the Right Wing view
  76.  
  77.                  BACKWARD (DOWN): Toggles between the Left Shoulder
  78.                                   and Right Shoulder views

  81.           ZOOM and UNZOOM

  83.                 If you use the Thrustmaster FCS or CH Products FlightStick 
  84.                 Pro, please note that you can no longer zoom or unzoom the 
  85.                 camera.
