Edwin Educational Software
The Brief Guide
This is the condensed version of our Edwin manual. Please
inquire if you would like a copy of the full manual.
* Register the student and begin at level 0. Choose Edwin
Addition by double clicking the mouse while pointing at the
Penguin with a '+' sign. Click on the top bar where it says
'Options'.
Click the 'Level' button which says '0-5'.
Click the 'Mode' button which says 'Tutorial'.
Click the mouse button in the name area and enter a name.
Click the 'Save' button in the lower right corner.
Click the 'Exit' button in the lower right.
* Click the top bar where it says 'Tutorial' or type the
letter 'T'.
Pick a number by clicking while pointing to the number
buttons in the lower left, or type any number on your keyboard.
Check your answer by clicking while pointing to the answer
button or press the enter key.
Review all the options on the right hand buttons by pointing
at them and clicking with the mouse.
For more information, click 'Help' on the main menu option
bar.
* When the student has done over 20 problems and has a score
of over 100 (a penguin will have appeared), he is ready to move
on.
* When the 'reward' is in progress, you may terminate it at
any time by using any mouse command.
* By going to the 'Option' on the top bar, change the mode to
'Test'. Let the student continue the tutorial. Change the mode
to Standard. Let the student continue. Change the level to 1
and the mode to tutorial.
In this fashion, by advancing one level or mode every time a
score is over 100, the student will eventually progress through
the final level and be ready for Edwin Subtraction.
* Before beginning all this in deadly earnest, we encourage
all teachers and students to play with the program and try try
the various options and combinations. Use the help provided on
the main menu. Contact us if you need to.
