  3. 1> Shortcut keys may be used from within any application as follows:
  4.    Ctrl-Alt-Shift-E will exit Windows.
  5.    Ctrl-Alt-Shift-R will exit and restart Windows.
  6.    Ctrl-Alt-Shift-B will exit Windows and reboot your system.

  8. 2> Exit Windows, run DOS app and restart Windows by dragging and 
  9.    dropping file from file manager.

  11. 3> Right click with mouse on Exit sign or icon for settings menu.

  16. GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS
  17.  
  18. ExitWin 3.1 - A simple but very elegant utility that makes leaving 
  19. Windows as easy as one click! ExitWin will exit Windows, exit 
  20. and re-start Windows, exit and run a DOS app or exit and reboot
  21. quickly with one click, two clicks or HotKey press configurable 
  22. from the settings menu. To exit Windows and run a DOS app, drag a DOS app 
  23. from file manager or an NDW drive window and drop it on the Exit sign (see 
  24. note below). Other settings include Always On Top (CTRL+T) 
  25. of all running apps, Lock Current Position (CTRL+L), Confirm Exit and 
  26. hide or show settings button. Use Select Sound File to configure 
  27. ExitWin to play a standard .wav file at exit (GLASS.WAV is included). The 
  28. Use Sound menu selection turns the selected sound on and off. To move 
  29. ExitWin around your screen, drag it by the green and white EXIT sign 
  30. (Lock Position must be off). ExitWin will remember it's last screen position. 
  31. Use Set Password to password protect the exit to DOS. Password must be composed 
  32. of the numbers 1 to 9 and may be up to nine characters in length. Clicking on 
  33. the Exit sign or minimized icon with the right mouse button will activate the 
  34. settings menu. Press F3 to minimize or return program to normal size.

  37. *Running a DOS application*
  38.  
  39. This feature is useful if you need to exit windows to run a DOS application or game
  40. that does not behave well in a DOS box. Drag the .exe or .com file from file manager
  41. or equivalent and drop it on the Exit sign. NOT ALL DOS APPS WILL RUN IN THIS WAY. If 
  42. the app won't run this way all you will see is an error message and Windows will 
  43. immediately restart.

  45. *Password Security*
  46.  
  47. One of the features of ExitWin is the ability to password protect the
  48. exit to DOS. You can enter these items in PROGMAN.INI to achieve control 
  49. over what the user can do with program manager. This was taken from the 
  50. Windows Resource Kit documentation page 221.
  51.  
  52. NoRun=1             will disable the Run command on the file menu.
  53. NoClose=1           will not allow users to exit Windows from program manager
  54. NoSaveSettings=1    disables save settings on exit option 
  55. NoFileMenu=1           removes the file menu from program manager
  56.  
  57. Setting the entry to 0 will enable the item.

  92. Run INSTALL.EXE. All distribution files will be copied to the directory of your choice 
  93. (.VBX & .DLL files will be placed in your Windows/System directory). For optimal 
  94. ease of use, it is recommended that you have ExitWin automatically load when 
  95. Windows is started.
