- OK, here's a very simple recipe for treacle tart from Elisabeth Luard,
- "European Peasant Cookery" (Corgi, 1986). ISBN 0-552-12870-8.

- It's delicious!!

- Treacle Tart

- Serves 6; prep 30 mins; bake 25-30 mins.

- Pastry

- 6 oz all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 oz sugar
- 4 oz cold butter
- 3 Tbs cold water

- Filling

- 1 lb treacle or golden syrup
- 2 oz fresh breadcrumbs
- 1 oz softened butter

- Make pastry as per usual.
- Roll two-thirds to line pie plate; cut the rest into strips for lattice.

- Mix filling ingredients; spread into pie; place lattice on top.

- 25-30 mins at 400F / 200C / Gas 6

- Serve with whipped cream or vanilla ice-cream.
