  5. with all the magic that
  6. this name conjures up.
  7. The two main areas are
  8. the cities of Los
  9. Angeles and San Francisco.
  10. California is known as
  11. the "Golden State" because
  12. of it's sunny climate
  13. and the the discovery of
  14. gold there in the pioneering
  15. days.
  16. Its a mixture of beaches,
  17. mountains,rugged coastline,
  18. Hollywood glamour,desert
  19. woodland and orchard.
  20. It is the most populous
  21. state in the USA and apart
  22. from LA and San Francisco,
  23. other major resort/tourist
  24. areas include San Diego and
  25. the lush resorts of Santa
  26. Barbara and Palm Springs.
  27. Also worh seeing are the
  28. arists communities at
  29. Laguna Beach and
  30. Mendocino.

  32. Los Angeles is an aquired
  33. taste and many people comment
  34. that it seems to have no
  35. centre to it.Popular tourist
  36. attraction here include Beverly
  37. Hills,Hollywood,Long Beach,
  38. Anaheim (for Disneyland)
  39. Pasedena and Santa Monica.
  40. From LA you can easily reach
  41. the great variety of terrain
  42. to be found in the rest of the 
  43. state from snow-capped
  44. mountains to vast deserts.

  46. San Francisco is a charming
  47. and enjoyable city and its
  48. famous gravity powered cable
  49. car system is well-worth seeing.
  50. So too is the spectacular Golden
  51. Gate Bridge and the now disused
  52. prison island of Alcatraz (trips
  53. by boat from San Francisco habour
  54. area.)

  56. Inland from the coast,the Yosemite
  57. national park is an ideal spot
  58. for a touring holiday.Los Vegas and
  59. Grand Canyon although not in the
  60. State are within reach too.
