  2. JpgStrip V1.0

  4. This is a small utility to remove unnecessary information from
  5. JPEG files.  This is useful for graphics that are going to be
  6. published to the web. 
  7. It does not decompress, and recompress the image,
  8. so there is no image quality loss.  It removes comments, and
  9. mostly unused extra tags.  It works extremely well on Photoshop
  10. files that include thumbnails (it removes the thumbnails).  It will remove
  11. Macintosh headers, extra bytes added to the end, and padding within
  12. the file.  JpgStrip does not make backups, and there is no undo.
  13. I suggest trying this on a *copy* of important files.
  14. JpgStrip creates a JS.LOG file in the affected folder.  It contains
  15. details about the process, including any errors or problems.

  17. To install simply put the executable file in a new folder, and create
  18. a shortcut somewhere.

  20. JpgStrip is freeware, and includes VB5 sourcecode.  It requires,
  21. but does not include the VB5 runtime files.  They are available
  22. from my site http://www.qtm.net/~davidc and many other places
  23. on the web.

  27. as you keep the original archive with all files intact.  You may not
  28. charge to distribute this program, except a small fee for CD-ROM

  32. My source code is poorly documented.  You may use parts of it
  33. in your own applications, but you can not claim the program as your
  34. own without making *substantial* changes to it.
