  17.   XYplorer is a multi-tabbed dual pane file manager for Windows, 
  18.   featuring a powerful file search, a versatile preview, a highly

  25. ------------
  26.   XYplorerFree, the XYplorer Free Edition, is a free feature-limited 
  27.   version of XYplorer. You may use XYplorerFree for commercial and 
  28.   non¡commercial purposes.

  33. Installation
  34. ------------
  35.   XYplorerFree is portable. It doesn't require any "installation" in the 
  36.   proper sense, and using it does not change your system or registry.
  37.   You can run it directly from your USB drive, and you can have as many 
  38.   parallel "installations" as you wish.

  40.   Choose one of the following packages:
  41.     (1) Installer Package
  42.     (2) No-Install Package
  43.  
  44.   Note: No matter which package you use, Install or No-Install, running 
  45.   XYplorerFree does not change your system or registry at any time.

  48. Installation using the Installer Package
  49. ----------------------------------------
  50.   Use this package to use an installer to install XYplorerFree, with 
  51.   icons in the start menu and an uninstaller.
  52.   
  53.   Extract xyplorer_free.zip to some temporary directory and run 
  54.   the included XYplorerFree_?.??_Install.exe.
  55.   
  56.   The following files are installed to the directory you 
  57.   selected/created during the install procedure:

  60.     ContextMenu64.exe .... Context Menu Handler
  61.     XYplorer.chm ......... Help
  62.     Startup.ini    .......... Sets the Application Data Path

  67.   Optionally a program group "XYplorerFree" is created under "Programs" 
  68.   in your Start menu, containing four icons. You have a choice here:
  69.   * Install for anyone using this computer (Default)
  70.     > The program group is created for all users.
  71.   * Install just for me
  72.     > The program group is created just for you.

  74.   The file Startup.ini contains information about the Application Data 
  75.   Path. By default this path is set to %appdata%\XYplorerFree which on a 
  76.   typical system (with English locale) is resolved to C:\Documents and 
  77.   Settings\<user>\Application Data\XYplorerFree.

  79.   The total size of all installed files will be about 7 MB.
  80.   No further files are added anywhere to your system, and nothing 
  81.   will be put into the registry but uninstall information.

  83.   To uninstall the program click the "Uninstall" icon in the
  84.   program group created during installation.

  86.   How to Upgrade: Install over the current directory of XYplorerFree. 
  87.   Your INI file will not be overwritten, so your settings and personal 
  88.   license key remain intact.

  91. Installation using the No-Install Package
  92. -----------------------------------------
  93.   Use this package to install XYplorerFree on a removable drive (e.g. USB), 
  94.   or in any folder on any drive you like. All application data will be 
  95.   stored under the application path.

  97.   Simply extract xyplorer_free_noinstall.zip anywhere.

  100. Dependencies
  101. ------------

  103.   * VB6 Runtime Files
  104.     xyplorer_free.zip does NOT contain the VB6 runtime files needed to 
  105.     run XYplorerFree. This is to keep download times short, and because 
  106.     they are present on almost every computer.

  108.     If you are not sure whether you got those files, it's easy to find out:
  109.     If you can start XYplorerFree.exe you got them, if not you have to 
  110.     get them.

  112.     ONLY IF THE PROGRAM DOES NOT START:
  113.       The VB6 runtime files needed can be found at this URL:

  116.       versions of the Microsoft Visual Basic runtime files that all
