KeyMap Instructions
**Middle C ic 60. Each octave adds or subtracts 12.**
Player Piano allows you to program notes and
chords (up to 8 tones) for most keys on your computer
keyboard. To do this, click one of the buttons on the
KeyMap screen that corresponds to the computer keyboard
key you wish to program. Then with your mouse pointer,
click the notes on the piano keyboard that you want that
computer keyboard key to play. You can play up to 8 tones
with each letter. Don't worry if you mess it up because
the original settings can be restored with the RESTORE
DEFAULT button. The tones each key will play are shown
in the list. Changes are saved immediately and you may
test them by pushing the actual keys on your computer
keyboard. The keys will also work after closing the KeyMap.
If you come up with a better arrangement of chords
and tones, you can make it your default by renaming the
"default" file in Player Piano folder named then renaming
the file "KeyMap.ini" as "default". You could for
example name the old default to "default.old". Then
to make the keys work push the RESTORE DEFAULT button
to rewrite the "KeyMap.ini file from your new default.
When an entry in the list is clicked, the next
piano key that is struck will create the next entry.
Watch out for the scroll lock and number lock keys.
They work fine, but remember, they affect the other
keys. Of course, don't CTRL- ALT- DEL or other similar
combinations. Also only three(3) keys may be pressed
at once or keyboard error occurs. This should not harm
anything except cancel played tones. However, I will
not be responsible for any damages so be careful. For
this reason I have excluded ENTER, ALT, CTRL, TAB, Arrow
keys, Window and mouse keys. They are unreliable for
music anyway.
