  5.     If Text Readers are ten-a-penny then Text Editors must
  6.    be nine-a-penny.  So why offer another, and what is so
  7.    special about P-Writer anyway?

  9.     First and foremost P-Writer is designed to make it easy to produce colorful
  10.    and attractive texts.  If you have ever struggled to insert text and style
  11.    changes using a "normal" editor such as Emacs, or tried to produce a text
  12.    with the skeletal facilities offered by such as AnsiWriter you will find
  13.    the problem solved by P-Writer.

  15.     Secondly when preparing illustrated texts it is essential to know where
  16.    pages begin and end so that, for example, an animation is not split between
  17.    two pages.  The paged format matches that of P-Reader, and adapts to PAL
  18.    or NTSC page sizes as necessary.

  20.     Thirdly texts can be loaded and saved in either plain or compressed format.
  21.    (P-Compress of course).

  23.     P-Writer has all the commands needed for writing texts - two buffers, split
  24.    windows, search/search again/search & replace, cut and paste, file requester
  25.    (the Arp requester if Arp Library has been installed).   It does not have
  26.    the multiplicity of buffers, facilities and configurability needed for a 
  27.    full general-purpose Editor such as Emacs or a Word Processor.

  29.     P-Writer is the third member of P-Suite to be released.  The full Suite
  30.    currently has four programmes and two utilities, also including:

  32.    P-Reader: - all-purpose reader for texts, ILBM pictures, Anim5 animations,
  33.             8SVX sounds, which may be compressed or uncompressed.  Will also
  34.             display special illustrated files which have any of the above
  35.             called from the text.

  37.    P-Compress - a highly efficient and very fast LZH compression tool based on
  38.             the LH-Library by Barthel and Krekel, but modified to control
  39.             memory usage.  LH-Library itself does not have to be installed.

  41.    P-Animate - an innovative 3D animator that more than holds its own against
  42.             any commercial program.

  44.    P-Unpack - utility for unpacking P-Compress PACKs.

  46.    P-Check -  utility for checking suitability of pictures and animations for
  47.             text illustrations.   Included here.

  49.    P-Suite does not rely on installed libraries or handlers (although it is an
  50.   advantage to have the Arp Library).  Each programme is self-contained and as
  51.   easy to use as possible.

  53.    To get a copy of the full P-Suite disk send four diskettes
  54.   (preferably with something interesting on them).  One will
  55.   be returned.

  57.    Try a quick taste of P-Writer now.  Load a plain text
  58.   file and use the keys of the numeric pad to improve its
  59.   appearance.
