This directory contains also the 'patches' subdirectory. There you can
find some self-generated sounds.

How to run PatchMan V1.0: 'Click on the PATCHMAN_JD800 Icon'
Please ensure, that the 'serial device' is placed in the 'devs'-
directory.

Following MIDI-operations are available with PatchMan V1.0:

Main Screen:
============
You can execeute an operation by pressing a gadget on the main screen.
Following now a general view of the gadgets and a section number where
you can find the instructions.
Operation Section

MIDI ON/OFF...........(1)
UNIT NUMBER...........(2)
DIRECTORY SETTINGS....(3)
PATCH TRANSFER........(4)
DATA TRANSFER.........(5)
PART EDITOR...........(6)
EFFECT EDITOR.........(7)
PatchMan V1.0 receives the datas automatically from your
JD-800. There is no need to work with 'DATA TRANSFER' on
your Synthesizer.
To left PatchMan V1.0, click on the 'Quit' gadget.

File Requester:
---------------
The file requester appears, whenever you want to load/save
datas!
How to use the file requester:
------------------------------
A click on the right mousebutton: prints all assigns
and devices on the
requester window.
Path: Actual directory
File: Filename
OK: Start loading/saving (You can also load a file
by double-clicking on the
filename!)
Parent: One directory back
Cancel: cancel load/save and jump back to menu.

Section 1: MIDI ON/OFF
###############################
By pressing the 'MIDI' gadget you kann switch the serial port on/off.
After programstart:
-------------------
If the serial port is used by another program (Sequencer,...),
PatchMan will set the 'MIDI' to 'OFF'!

Section 2: UNIT NUMBER
###############################
If you want to swap datas with the JD-800 you must set an unit number.
This number must be the same with that on your JD-800.
After you turned the power of your JD-800 on, this number will be auto-
matically set to '17'.
How to use the gadgets in this window:
--------------------------------------
USE...............sets the clicked unit number to actual. No save.
CANCEL............goes back to menu and uses the old number
SAVE UNITPREFS....saves the clicked unit number and set it to actual.
LOAD UNITPREFS....loads the last saved unit number.
After programstart PatchMan V1.0 will load and set this number
automatically!

Section 3: DIRECTORY SETTINGS
######################################
For each operation which swaps datas with the JD-800, there is an own
directory available. So you can easily save your datas in seperate
directories.
Seperate directories are available for these parts:
PATCH TRANSFER
DATA TRANSFER -> ALL
DATA TRANSFER -> PATCHES
DATA TRANSFER -> SETUP
PART EDITOR
EFFECT EDITOR -> Reverb
EFFECT EDITOR -> Chorus
EFFECT EDITOR -> Delay
Set new paths:
--------------
There are two possibilities to set new paths
1. Insert the pathname by clicking one of the string-gadgets.
2. You can set a path during a load/save operation.
Example: Go to 'PATCH TRANSFER'-window, click on load
patch or save patch. Now choose the path you need.
After that click on 'Cancel' or 'OK'. That's all.
How to use the gadgets in this window:
--------------------------------------
Save directory settings: A click on this gadget saves your
directory settings. After programstart
PatchMan V1.0 will load and set the
directory settings automatically!
Load directory settings: A click on this gadget will load the
last saved directory settings and set
them.
Return to main menu: Click on the 'CLOSEWINDOW' gadget.

Section 4: PATCH TRANSFER
##################################
With Patch Transfer you can swap single patches from single- or multi
mode with the JD-800.
If you want to receive/send patches from/to single mode, please ensure,
that your JD-800 is switched to single mode.
If you want to receive/send patches from/to multi mode, please ensure,
that your JD-800 is switched to multi mode.
!ATTENTION! After transmitting a patch to the JD-800:
-----------------------------------------------------
PatchMan transmits patch datas to the 'Patch Temporary Area'.
If you turn the power of your JD-800 off, the datas in this area will
be lost! So, never forget to save your patch datas into internal or
card memory after transmitting!!!
How to use the gadgets in this window:
--------------------------------------
Single: If this gadget is activated, PatchMan receives/sends single
patches from/to single mode.
Multi: If this gadget is activated, PatchMan receives/sends single
patches from/to multi mode. Right near Multi are five gadgets
from '1' to '5'. If you want to receive/send single patches
in multi mode you can set one of these five parts. It is also
possible to receive a patch from part 3 and send it later to
part 1 or another part.
Receive Patch: receives a patch from JD-800. Please ensure, that
your JD-800 is in the right mode. If not, then
press stop and switch to the correct mode. After
that: Try again...
Send Patch: transmits a patch to the JD-800. Please ensure,
that your JD-800 is in the right mode. If not,
your JD-800 will ignore this datas.
Load Patch: loads a saved patch. If the 'Multi'-gadget is acti-
vated and the loaded datas are single patch datas,
PatchMan will automatically activate the 'Single'-
gadget. If the 'Single'-gadget is activated and the
loaded datas are multi patch datas, PatchMan will
automatically activate the 'Multi'-gadget.
Save Patch: saves a patch.
Patchname: Here you can change the name of the sound. Click
easily on the string gadget. Don't forget to press
return after edit, because a character checker will
start his work after pressing that key.
You can use the following characters to change a
soundname: A-Z a-z 0-9 !?.,:;"'*+-/<>=
Return to main menu: Click on the 'CLOSEWINDOW' gadget.

Section 5: DATA TRANSFER
#################################
With 'DATA TRANSFER' you can swap following datas with the JD-800:
------------------------------------------------------------------
SPECIAL SETUP: This is the 'SP' Part. In this part you
can make settings for each key. To enter
this part, press in Multi Mode 'PART >'
until 'SP' appears on the display.
PATCHES: The soundbank with all 64 internal
patches.
ALL: Contains following datas:
Tune/Func parameters
Reverb-/Chous-/Delay parameters
64 internal patches (see: PATCHES)
Special Setup (see: SPECIAL SETUP)
You can receive/send these datas in Single- and Multi Mode!
To change/check the Tune/Function params, press 'Tune/Func' on your
JD-800.
How to use the gadgets in this window:
--------------------------------------
Receive XXX: receives the datas from your JD-800. To cancel
the transmission press 'STOP'.
!WARNING! If you want receive other datas
immediatly after cancel the receive operation,
ensure that the JD-800 has finished his trans-
mission. The JD-800 prints a message on his display
during a transmission operation.
Send XXX: transmits datas to your JD-800.
Load: loads the datas into memory.
Save: saves the datas.
'XXX' stands for: SPECIAL SETUP, PATCHES or ALL.
!ATTENTION! After sending 'ALL'-datas to the JD-800, appears
a 'MIDI ERROR'. This is not a bug of my program!
I don't know why this message appears, because
the JD-800 receives the 'ALL'-datas correctly!
Don't be afraid to use the 'ALL'Send operation,
it works correctly!
Return to main menu: Click on the 'CLOSEWINDOW' gadget.

Section 6: PART EDITOR
###############################
With the PART EDITOR you can edit one of the six parts(1-5, Special).
These settings are ONLY available in Multi Mode. Ensure, that your
JD-800 is in this mode!!!
How to use the gadgets in this window:
--------------------------------------
Part: Receive/transmit from/to part X.
MIDI Rx Channel: This specifies the MIDI channel on which MIDI
messages from an external device will be received.
Values: OFF, 1-16
Level: The volume settings on this part.
Pan: stereo settings. Values: L30 - R30
L = Left, R = Right.
Output assign: This specifies on which of the two stereo outputs
the sound will send from.
If this is set to DIR, the internal effects will
not be applied!
Effect mode: Here you can set the effect you wish to apply to
the part. If you have selected 'DIR' in the Output
assign, this will be ignored.
Effect Level: This will adjust the level to the effects.
Receive settings: receives the parameters from the JD-800.
Send settings: transmits the parameters to the JD-800.
Load settings: loads the part parameters.
Save settings: saves the part parameters.
ATTENTION: If you have selected the special part, only this
parameters are editable: MIDI Rx Channel, Level and
Output assign.
Return to main menu: Click on the 'CLOSEWINDOW' gadget.

Section 7: EFFECT EDITOR
#################################
These settings are ONLY available in Multi Mode. Ensure, that your
JD-800 is in this mode!!!
After clicking on the 'EFFECT EDITOR' gadget a window with following
three gadgets appears on the screen: REVERB, CHORUS and DELAY.
Click now on that effect you wish to edit.
These gadgets are placed in all three windows:

Receive Parameter: receives effect parameters
Send Parameter: transmits effect parameters
Load Parameter: loads effect parameters
Save Parameter: saves effect parameters
Return to main menu: Click on the 'CLOSEWINDOW' gadget.
Let's start with the reverb gadgets:
------------------------------------
Type: type of reverb
Pre delay time: the time from when the original sound occurs to
when the reverbation is heard
Early ref level: specifies the distance to a "wall"
HF damp: specifies which portion of the high frequency will
be cut
Time: specifies the time over which the reverberant sound
will decay
Level: Reverb volume level
Chorus settings:
----------------
Rate: modulation speed
Depth: modulation depth
Delaytime: delay time used by the chorus
Feedback: specifies the amount of feedback used by the chorus
Level: volume level of chorus sound
Delay settings:
---------------
XXX tap: specifies the delay time of sound
XXX Level: Volume of the delay sound
'XXX' stands for: Center/Left/Right
