  10. Checkbook Accountant 2.0 is a checkbook recording, balancing, budgeting, and
  11. analyzing program.  Intended to be used as a companion to a checkbook
  12. register (the record of transactions to and from a checking account) and not
  13. as a replacement, this program offers a simple way of balancing checkbooks,
  14. tracking bank transactions, and recording and analyzing budgeted
  15. transactions.
  16.  
  17. The program was designed to be functional using either the mouse or keyboard.
  18. Not all features have this duality, but most do.  Another design
  19. consideration was to include as many useful and timesaving features into one
  20. program.  For instance, you can scroll through any list by dragging the
  21. scroll bar, using the arrow gadgets, or using the cursor keys on the keyboard
  22. (along with CTRL, SHIFT, or ALT, or by itself).  Also, the HELP key is
  23. available for on-line help almost anywhere in the program.  Just be sure
  24. that the cursor is not active (in an input field) when you press the HELP key.
  25. A fast way to deactivate the cursor is to hold down the SHIFT key while
  26. pressing the RETURN key (SHIFT-RETURN).

  87. ------

  89. For Workbench Users
  90.  
  91.    To set-up the program:
  92.  
  93.    1. Unarchive with the command:
  94.  
  95.          lharc -x -m x CHKBKACCTNT2.0.LZH <destpath>
  96.  
  97.       where, <destpath> is the path name of the final destination directory.
  98.       Be sure to properly define <destpath>.  Consult the archive utility's
  99.       documentation if you need assistance.  Approximately 600K of free
  100.       disk space is needed to properly unarchive CHKBKACCTNT2.0.LZH.
  101.  
  102.    2. Double-click on the CAinstall icon.  Answer all the questions posed to
  103.       you.  Be sure that you answer the questions correctly; you will not be
  104.       able to verify your answers.
  105.  
  106.    3. Close and reopen the disk or drawer where the CAinstall icon resides.
  107.       This will update the icon files.
  108.  
  109.    The Checkbook Accountant 2.0 system is now ready to run.  To start
  110.    Checkbook Accountant, double-click on the CA icon.

  112.    To start the program with a checkbook, budget, or description file loaded
  113.    upon startup, double click on a checkbook, budget, or description file
  114.    icon.  A checkbook icon looks like the program's icon but has the word
  115.    "CHECKBOOK" written on it; budget files have "BUDGET" and description
  116.    files have "DESC".

  118.    Only one file will load during startup; using a shift-click (multiple
  119.    selection) method will not work.

  122. For CLI Users
  123.  
  124.    These instructions assume some familiarity with using the CLI (Command
  125.    Line Interface).

  127.    To set-up the program:

  129.    1. Unarchive with the command:

  166.       where <budget file> is the name of the budget file.  Add any necessary
  167.       directory path name for the reason stated above.

  169.       To start the program with a description file loaded upon startup, use
  170.       the command:

  172.          CA -d <description file>
  173.  
  174.       where <description file> is the name of the description file.  Add any
  175.       necessary directory path name for the reason stated above.

  178.       other command line arguments.

  182. System Requirements
  183. -------------------
  184.  
  185. Checkbook Accountant 2.0 runs on Amiga 500/1000/2000/2500/3000 computers
  186. under AmigaDOS 1.3 or Release 2.  The program requires a minimum of 512K
  187. total free RAM to run, although larger checkbook files might require more
  188. memory.  The minimum disk space requirements for a working installation are
  189. approximately 280K.  For CLI users, the program will run with the default
  190. stack size of 4,000 bytes.

  252. This release (version 2.0) constitutes the last major upgrade to Checkbook
  253. Accountant for quite awhile, although support for its users will continue.
  254. I have spent many more months than I planned or expected adding features
  255. into the program and I feel that Checkbook Accountant should take a rest so
  256. that I can start a new program.  I am designing it right now.  Whether it
  257. will be release or not is unknown.  Stay tuned...
