  1. This directory contains all of the C-News support files.  I'll try to
  2. give some idea of their purpose and format, but see the C-News
  3. documentation for full details.

  5. The "sys" file contains a list of the newsgroups that you will be accepting.
  6. If you check the sample provided, you will see a list of newsgroups.  It is
  7. also valid to use the notation "comp.sources,!comp.sources.games" to mean
  8. everything in comp.sources, but exclude anything in comp.sources.games (but
  9. why would anyone do THAT ;-)
  10.  
  11. The "whoami" file is used when determining the "Path:" header line, both
  12. for incoming and outgoing postings.  (Note that outgoing postings are not
  13. directly supported; currently I use the mailer to create a message and then
  14. send that upstream to my feed and he handles it.)
  15.  
  16. The "active" file has a list of all newsgroups.  Field 1 is the newsgroup
  17. name, field 2 is the oldest article number, field 3 is the latest, and
  18. the last field is "y" for "yes, I'll accept that", "x" for "ignore it",
  19. and "=news.group" for aliasing one group to another (see the provided
  20. sample for examples of each).

  22. The "errlog", "log", "history", and "history.pag" files are status
  23. files for the C-News package.  See the C-News documentation for details.
