NAME
GenList
DESCRIPTION
GenList is a tool for use with BBS-PC v4.2, made by Torkel Lodberg.
It uses three files as input, BBS.P, UDHEAD.DAT and GenList.dat.
GenList.dat is a file you may edit with an editor. On the first line,
place the name of your board. The 16 lines that follow shall contain
the directory names from 0 - 15. A sample file is included in this
package, it shouldn't be too difficult to understand.
GenList creates 32 textfiles containing BBS-PC directory listings.
The first 16 files are named DIRxxx.TXT and contain listings that are
equal to the ones displayed by BBS-PC, with the following exceptions;
a header w/directory name, board name and creation date is displayed
at the beginning, and at the bottom the total number of files and
bytes will be displayed.
The next 16 files are named DIRxxx.ANS and contain exactly the same
listings, but with ANSI graphics.
To run GenList, you must be positioned in the same directory as the
BBS.P file. When GenList has finished its job, it may be a good idea
to install GenList in your S:Startup-sequence file. Now, edit your
BBS-PC menus so that the (F)ile directory command will display the
textfiles on screen.
It is possible to create a textfile that lists all the file
directories using the CLI "join" command. Example;
cd ram:
join SYS:BBS-PC!/dir001.txt SYS:BBS-PC!/dir002.txt SYS:BBS-PC!/dir003.txt SYS:BBS-PC!/dir004.txt SYS:BBS-PC!/dir005.txt SYS:BBS-PC!/dir006.txt SYS:BBS-PC!/dir007.txt SYS:BBS-PC!/dir008.txt SYS:BBS-PC!/dir009.txt TO DIR1.TXT
join DIR1.TXT SYS:BBS-PC!/dir010.txt SYS:BBS-PC!/dir011.txt SYS:BBS-PC!/dir012.txt SYS:BBS-PC!/dir013.txt SYS:BBS-PC!/dir014.txt SYS:BBS-PC!/dir015.txt TO DIR.TXT
delete DIR1.TXT
copy DIR.TXT SYS:BBS-PC!
delete DIR.TXT
