UstarREADME v0.90
Quick Info on Ustar
Ustar is a configuration for Uedit.
Ustar is Copyright © 1987 by Kurt Wessels.
Uedit is a very powerful text editor distributed by the shareware method.
Uedit is a trademark of, and is copyrighted by, Rick Stiles.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
*** LAST MINUTE NOTES ***
There was not room on the distribution disk to include MicroSpell, a
primitive but usable spelling checker used by a few Uedit commands. You can
find MicroSpell on Fred Fish disk # 101.
There is little room left on the distribution disk. So, be sure to make a
backup of it, and don't save files to your working copy until you have made
some room on it.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
If you have any trouble running Ustar or Uedit, send to me for a disk that is
all set up with both to run completely from the Workbench - see UstarDoc for
address and details.
You MUST have Uedit version V2.3c to use Ustar v0.90 - it is not included in
this ARC. Look for UEDIT23C.ARC on your favorite Amiga bulletin boards or
disks if you don't already have it.
Once you have Uedit, you can run the Ustar configuration instead of the
standard Uedit configuration from the CLI as follows.
For either method below, the UES file (the shareware version of the Uedit
program) needs to be either in the current directory or somewhere in your
system path, like on your Workbench disk or in c:.
Method 1
1. CD to the place where the Ustar files are.
2. Run Ustar via:
run ues -dUstarData!
Method 2
1. Copy the UstarData! file to your s: directory, renaming it as Data!, as
in:
copy df1:UstarData! s:Data!
2. Now, anytime you want to run Ustar, just type:
run ues
Once you have it running, use Alt-U (or choose in menu entry) to load the
tutorial file, UstarTutor. Also look at the documentation file, UstarDoc;
press the Help key for help on key commands, and look at menus. You are on
your way!
