UUCoderWin version 1.00
31 December, 1992
by Nils 'Jon' Görs
What are UUCoders?
------------------
UUCoders are used to send a binary file via uucp or other
electronic mail systems.
There are two kind of uucoders, one to encrypt a binary file
so that the output will only contain printable characters so it
can be placed in a message area. This is called uuencoding.
The other one decrypts an uuencode't file to it's binary
origin. This is called uudecoding.
How to use UUCoderWIN
---------------------
Below, you'll see the User-Interface for UUCoderWindow. In my opinion
it's very easy to handle. Some functions are also available with shortcuts.

OX = GetFile for Infile and Outfile Use.
StringGadgets = Infile, Outfile, Name, DestinationDirectory, Flags.
CheckBoxes = NoCheck, BinAsFilename, Xadd.
ButtonGadgets = Encode, Decode.
UUEncodeX
=========
Options available for UUEncodeX are:
¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
BinAsFilename use only the basename as filename.
XAdd adds after every encoded line an 'X'.
<N>ame the name you want to call the binary file after decoding
(if not given, <infile> is used)
<F>lags set a protection mode (Unix style, 000 - 777)
Default is 644
NOCHECK don't add a checksum after each encoded line
Arguments should be given:
¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
<I>nfile name of the binary file which must be encoded
<O>utfile name of the file which must contain the encoded lines
of the binary file
UUEncodeX places a filesize at the end of the encoded file which
can be used by decoding as a check.
If the output-file already exists, UUEncodeX will ask you if you
want to overwrite it (still have some problems to recognize the task).
UUDecodeX
=========
Options available for UUDecodeX are:
¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
BinAsFilename use only the basename of the encoded file
DestinationDirector<y> followed by a directory, write the origin file
to the specified directory
NOCHECK don't check the checksums given after each line (if present)
Arguments should be given:
¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
<I>nfile the name of the encoded file which must be decoded
File/Devicenames with spaces, should written in "..."
UUDecodeX can handle encoded files which have checksums, 'X'
terminated lines or not. Any combination of these two options are
handled perfectly by UUDecodeX.
If a size is given at the end of the encoded file UUDecodeX
will check if this matches with the size of the binary file it
decoded.
Why did I made this programs?
-----------------------------
In the past, I had to encode and decode lot of programs. But the
CLI/SHELL was not the way to do it. In this time, I decided to create a
UserInterface for the CLI/Shell commands UUEncodeX and UUDecodeX written
by Michel Bekker. Now, it's possible to handle the UUCrunchers very easy
and quickly.
Bugs!
-----
I decided not to patch the original UUcoded file. So If you try to decode
a file that always exists, you'll get in trouble.
BE CAREFUL TO DECODE ON EXISTING FILES !!
Version changes:
----------------
v0.50 27 December 1992
- First version, OS\2.0 only.
- H&F Testphase (H&F means: Holger and Frank)
v1.00 29 December 1992
- First release, added GetFileGadgets
- '.dup' suffix routine added..
- Workbench startup included.
