  13. 1) BUG: Uninstall may crash Windows 3.1x upon completion. This is an
  14. intermittent problem and may be due to a bug in the Win32s extensions.
  15. No problems have been reported with Uninstall under NT or with the
  16. 16-bit build under Windows 3.1x. (1/25/94)

  18. 2) BUG: After installation when the program is first started it may
  19. report an error attempting to read WALL.GLZ as the logo panel bitmap.
  20. This is an intermittent error and may also be due to problems with the
  21. Win32s extensions. It has not been observed under NT or with the 16-bit
  22. version under Windows 3.1x. (1/25/94)

  24. 3) BUG: There are problems using hot keys and the screen saver under 
  25. the Win32s extensions. These function correctly in Wallpaper Manager 
  26. but seems to cause problems for other applications such a Word for 
  27. Windows 6.0. I am now fairly sure these problems are the result of a 
  28. bug in the Win32s DLLs which I am discussing with Microsoft. (2/9/94)

  30. Until these problems are resolved I recommend using the Win32s build 
  31. only under NT.

  34.                        INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS

  37.                         First Time Installation
  38.  
  39. 1. Place the Wallpaper Manager Plus diskette in your floppy disk drive.
  40.  
  41. 2. Select File/Run in the Program Manager's menu.
  42.  
  43. 3. Type a:\setup in the Command Line box then click OK (or b:\setup if 
  44. you are using floppy drive B:).
  45.  
  46. 4. Click Install in the Setup program menu to begin installation. 
  47. Click Help for more information about the installation process.
  48.  
  49.                          Upgrade Installation
  50.  
  51.         If you are upgrading from a version of Wallpaper Manager 
  52. previous to v2.50:
  53.  
  54. 1. You should manually delete all the old Wallpaper Manager program 
  55. files except your original WALL.INI and any galleries you have created.
  56.  
  57. 2. Create a new directory to hold the new version of Wallpaper Manager 
  58. Plus you will be installing, e.g., C:\WALL.
  59.  
  60. 3. Copy your original WALL.INI file to this directory.
  61.  
  62. 4. Start the Wallpaper Manager Plus Setup program as described above. 
  63. Specify the new directory you have created in step 2 as the 
  64. installation directory.
  65.  
  66.         If you are upgrading from v2.50 or later:
  67.  
  68. 1. Start Setup as described above. Specify your current Wallpaper 
  69. Manager directory as the installation directory. Setup will upgrade 
  70. your copy while preserving your current WALL.INI and WALL.GAL.

  74.   CHANGES SETUP AND WALLPAPER MANAGER MAKE TO YOUR WINDOWS SYSTEM
  75.  
  76. Files: Setup copies the Wallpaper Manager files to the hard disk 
  77. directory you specify in the Install dialog. The Help/Uninstall menu 
  78. option in Wallpaper Manager will delete all and only these files and 
  79. the Wallpaper Manager directory provided it is empty following the 
  80. deletion.

  82. WIN.INI: Setup and Wallpaper Manager may modify the load= line in the 
  83. [windows] section if you enable Autostart. Any change is undone if you 
  84. Uninstall. Wallpaper Manager also changes the wallpaper= line in the 
  85. [desktop] section during regular operation. If you Uninstall and the 
  86. current wallpaper is not in BMP, DIB, or RLE format then this line 
  87. will be set to null otherwise it is unchanged. Under Windows NT the
  88. Win32s build makes these changes to the Registry (NT does not use
  89. WIN.INI for 32-bit applications).

  91. SYSTEM.INI: No changes.
  92.  
  93. AUTOEXEC.BAT and CONFIG.SYS: No changes.

  95. Program Items and Groups: Setup creates a Wallpaper Manager Plus 
  96. program group containing a WallPlus program item that you can use to 
  97. launch Wallpaper Manager and a WM+ ReadMe file icon that will display 
  98. this file in your default editor (usually Windows Notepad). Uninstall 
  99. does not delete the items or the group.

  194. Some of these files are named differently on the distribution disk. 
  195. Files with extensions ending in an underscore (e.g., EX_) have been 
  196. compressed. Files with extension CR_ are encrypted and compressed 
  197. (encrypted files are only included in shareware distribution package). 
  198. The Setup program decompresses and decrypts the distribution files as 
  199. needed during installation.
