  5. Installation
  6. ============

  8. WinSplice files come in compressed form, and they must be installed using
  9. the included Windows-hosted installation program.
  10.  
  11. If you received WinSplice as an archived (.ZIP) file, unarchive it to a
  12. diskette.
  13.  
  14. WinSplice is designed to run under Windows 3.1 with VGA or better.
  15.  
  16. To install WinSplice:
  17.  
  18.         1. Insert this diskette in a floppy drive.
  19.         2. If not already running Microsoft Windows, start Windows.
  20.         3. From Program Manager, select Run from the File menu.
  21.         4. Type a:setup (or b:setup) and press [ENTER]
  22.     
  23. WinSplice can be installed to a drive and directory of your choice. At
  24. the end of set up, a group will be created in Program Manager with
  25. three items in it. The WinSplice icon, Help file icon and a 
  26. User's manual icon.

  30. Version 1.0 - Initial release 8/15/93.
  31.  
  32. Version 1.1 - Released 12/12/93. Fixed a bug that prevented WinSplice from 
  33.               installing properly if a Visual Basic 2.0 file (THREED.VBX) was
  34.               found in the \WINDOWS\SYSTEM subdirectory.
  35.  
  36. Version 1.5 - Released 2/14/94. Added the capability of splicing a file up to
  37.               a file size of 100 megs. Previous version would only handle files
  38.               up to 10 megs.

  40. Version 2.0 - Released 10/12/94. 
  41.               The "Select Diskette" drive list box only displays removeable drives.
  42.  
  43.               Modified messages to display the drive and disk size.
  44.  
  45.               Made minor changes to the help file and "About" dialog.

  47. Version 2.0a - Released 10/25/94.
  48.                The file MHRUN400.DLL was missing from version 2.0.
  49.  
  50. Version 2.1  - Released 06/01/95.
  51.                MicroHelp's drive control was incompatible with 
  52.                Windows 95 final beta. Replaced it with Microsoft control.    
  53.                Ralph Burri of Switzerland tested WinSplice under Windows 95
  54.                final beta version with no apparent problems.
  55.  
  56. Version 2.5  - Released 06/17/95.
  57.                Gerhard Silbermann of Germany suggested that a 
  58.                nice feature to add to WinSplice would be to allow the 
  59.                restoring of split files on a computer that did not have the 
  60.                WinSplice program installed.
  61.                This feature has been implemented.
