Night Hunter Trainer
--------------------
Found by Rescue Raider
Original trainer template by RBM
For those of you who don't have a joystick, here are the keyboard commands:
Use the numeric keypad for movement. 'Q' is the activating key.
Hold 'Q' and the following movement key to initiate an action:
'Q' and '8' key to enter a door.
'Q' and '1' key to change into a werewolf.
'Q' and '2' key to change back to yourself.
'Q' and '3' key to change into a bat.
To get an object, press 'Q' to get things above the floor. Press '2' for
things on the floor. To suck blood, press 'Q' next to a person. Hold the
'Q' key down to keep sucking.
Game Objective: To pass all ten levels.
How to pass a level
-------------------
You are Count Dracula or a vampire. You need to get all eight objects within
the current level. They are gold key, red key, blue key, white key, larger
gold key, scroll tablet, upside down green cross, and a red potion in a
flask. The objects are found in rooms, houses or outside. Some items are
tricky to find. For instance, on level 1, the red potion is found on the
left of two knights that are guarding a doorway. Once you have all eight
objects, you have to go to the door with the gold cross on it. You are
then given the change to save your game and continue on to the next level.
The colored bars serve as your blood level and transformation level. If your
blood is drained, you lose a life. The transformation level tells you how
long you can retain your bat or werewolf figure. You automatically change
back when it runs out, and is then equalled to your current blood level. To
incrase your blood level, you must suck the blood out of the people that
walk along with you (except for the zombie girl, witches, frogs, etc). If
you suck long enough, the person changes into a skeleton and disintegrates.
Also, avoid hard to see pits/holes and water.
Become a bat to cross over water. Become a werewolf to overcome the effects
of the zombie girl. Also, you can only enter doors while in your
vampire self. Last but not least, be aware of the moon rising and falling.
If it is beginning to go down, you don't have a lot of time left. You must
go into your crypt and wait for the next night to arrive. To do this, you
must find a white gated door. You can enter only if the moon is going down.
The trainer
-----------
Even though this is not the greatest trainer in the world, it is my first.
It will only work with the EGA/VGA option. The program allocates memory
differently for the CGA and Tandy options so the memory locations are at
different places, and I'm too lazy to look for them.
Once you choose the EGA/VGA option, wait until you (the vampire) appears
on the screen. Then press the 'F5' key. Once done, the trainer is activated
awaiting these keypresses:
F1 - Invulnerability toggle
F2 - Raise your blood level to max (any time)
F3 - Unlimited vampires toggle
F4 - Add a life (life # updated when you go to the next game screen)
F5 - Activate the trainer
F6 - Go to the next higher level once you've completed the current one.
Unlike RBM's 'pass to next level automatically' key, I couldn't find that
place. The game has all these far call routines that it was difficult to
trace. Anyway, the F6 key works as follows: If you are on level 1 and press
the F6 twice, you get to go to level 4 once you've finished level 1. Also
note that there are only ten levels. I didn't check for overflow.
The reason for the F5 key is that while I was playing with different TSRs
in memory, the game was allocated at different places. This moved the
memory around from 16 to 112 bytes. So the F5 key is trying to find the
correct place where the game data is at.
** Note ** If you fail to press F5 before the rest of the trainer keys, it
may have adverse affects in the game.
- Rescue Raider
If you find any problems, tell me. I can't guarantee that this trainer will
work because of the game's memory allocation.
