  2. Welcome to the Creative Review CD-Rom

  5. This Read Me is designed to help you to get optimum results from this CD-
  6. Rom. If after reading this you still have any problems installing or
  7. running the CD-rom, then  call the Williams Technical Support number
  8. on +44 (0)171 250 0917.

  10. The CD-Rom will run best if you close down any other applications which you 
  11. may have open. This will automatically give you the maximum RAM available 
  12. in your machine.  The more applications which you leave open, the slower 
  13. this CD-Rom will run.

  16. OVERVIEW

  19. The CD-rom comes free  with Creative Review magazine for all subscribers. It 
  20. is designed to be complementary to the written word in bringing you the latest 
  21. creative work in moving pictures - video, audio and graphics in a multimedia 
  22. format.  
  23.  
  24. We hope that you enjoy this product and we are keen to hear your views.  For

  34. Currently this CD will not play video that requires QuickTime 3.0 to run. Similarly
  35. If you have QuickTime 3.0 installed and not QuickTime 2.1 you will not be able to view 
  36. the video on this CD.

  40. The install program for this software is included on this CD in the 'Software' folder

  45. This product includes a copy of Shockwave¬ for Director, which enables the playback
  46. of high impact multimedia on the World Wide Web. For further information regarding

  52. MINIMUM SYSTEM CONFIGURATION

  55. We have created this product to run on a system with the following minimum 
  56. specification:

  58. IBM or compatible 486 DX2/66 processor
  59. 8Mb RAM
  60. 14 inch colour monitor (standard 14 inch Apple colour monitor) 
  61. Double speed CD-Rom drive
  62. Windows 95
  63. QuickTime for Windows 2.1.1

  72. Please note: The CD-Rom will play on Windows 3.1/Windows for Workgroups but
  73. some work will not display properly since these operating systems do not 
  74. cater for 16 bit images within the application.

  76. This product needs all the above items to run.  You need QuickTime 2.1 or 
  77. later to run the Creative Review CD-Rom. 
  78.  
  79. If you do not have QuickTime for Windows 2.11 already installed on your system
  80. then the setup programe will install it at your request. (Please refer to the
  81. Apple licence information included in the Legal Read Me section for usage
  82. limitations). The software loaded is Windows system software, and will not
  83. conflict with any other Windows standard software.  
  84.  
  85. The movies on this disc will run at optimum quality if you view this product on 
  86. a 16-bit display - a monitor running in thousands of colours.  The Creative 
  87. Review CD-Rom will run on an 8-bit monitor, but will look better with 
  88. thousands of colours.

  145. To set up, select Start/File menu and choose Run. Use the Browse to locate the
  146. CD-Rom and select setup.exe then click OK.
  147.  
  148. Now follow on screen instructions to complete the installation. The programme will
  149. install a programme group so that this CD-Rom and subsequent issues can be accesed
  150. from the main Programme Manager. This installation need only be activated when
  151. you view your first disc.

  209. the Software and fonts on a single Apple computer and make one copy of the 
  210. Software and fonts in machine-readable form for backup purposes only. You

  212. notice and any other proprietary legends that were on the original copy of the 
  213. Software and fonts. You may also transfer all your licence rights in the

  230. any provision of this Licence. Upon termination you must destroy the

  233. 4. Export Law Assurances. You agree and certify that neither the Software 
  234. nor any other technical data received from Centaur Communications Limited, 
  235. nor the direct product thereof, will be exported outside the United States 
  236. except as authorised and as permitted by the laws and regulations of the 
  237. United States. If the Software has been rightfully obtained by you outside of 
  238. the United States, you agree that you will not re-export the Software nor any 
  239. other technical data received from Centaur Communications Limited, nor the 
  240. direct product thereof, except as permitted by the laws and regulations of the 
  241. United States and the laws and regulations of the jurisdiction in which you 
  242. obtained the Software.

  244. 5. Government End Users. If you are acquiring the Software and fonts on 
  245. behalf of any unit or agency of the United States Government, the following 
  246. provisions apply. The Government agrees:
  247. 1) if the Software and fonts are supplied to the Department of Defence (DoD), 
  248. the Software and fonts are classified as "Commercial Computer Software" 
  249. and the Government is acquiring only "restricted rights" in the Software, its 
  250. documentation and fonts as that term is defined in Clause 252.227-7013(c)(1) 
  251. of the DFARS; and
  252. 2) if the Software and fonts are supplied to any unit or agency of the United 
  253. States Government other than DoD, the Government's rights in the Software, 
  254. its documentation and fonts will be as defined in Clause 52.227-19(c)(2) of 
  255. the FAR or, in the case of NASA, in Clause 18-52.227-86(d) of the NASA 
  256. Supplement to the FAR.

  258. 6. Limited Warranty on Media. Centaur Comunications Limited warrants the 
  259. diskettes and/or compact disc on which the Software and fonts are recorded 
  260. to be free from defects in materials and workmanship under normal use for a 
  261. period of ninety (90) days from the date of purchase as evidenced by a copy 
  262. of the receipt. Centaur Communications Limited's entire liability and your 
  263. exclusive remedy will be replacement of the diskettes and/or compact disc not 
  264. meeting Centaur Communications Limited's limited warranty and which is 
  265. returned to Centaur Communications Limited or an Centaur Communications 
  266. Limited authorised representative with a copy of the receipt. Centaur 
  267. Communications Limited will have no responsibility to replace a disk/disc 
  268. damaged by accident, abuse or misapplication. ANY IMPLIED WARRANTIES 
  269. ON THE DISKETTES AND/OR COMPACT DISC, INCLUDING THE IMPLIED 
  270. WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY AND FITNESS FOR A 
  271. PARTICULAR PURPOSE, ARE LIMITED IN DURATION TO NINETY (90)

  282. Licensors shall be collectively referred to as Centaur Communications 
  283. Limited) EXPRESSLY DISCLAIM ALL WARRANTIES, EXPRESS OR 
  284. IMPLIED, INCLUDING, BUT NOT LIMITED TO, THE IMPLIED 
  285. WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY AND FITNESS FOR A 
  286. PARTICULAR PURPOSE. CENTAUR COMMUNICATIONS LIMITED DOES 
  287. NOT WARRANT THAT THE FUNCTIONS CONTAINED IN THE SOFTWARE

  323. 9. Controlling Law and Severability.  This Licence shall be governed by and 
  324. construed in accordance with the laws of the United States and the State of 
  325. California, as applied to agreements entered into and to be performed entirely 
  326. within California between California residents. If for any reason a court of 
  327. competent jurisdiction finds any provision of this Licence, or portion thereof, 
  328. to be unenforceable, that provision of the Licence shall be enforced to the 
  329. maximum extent permissible so as to effect the intent of the parties, and the 
  330. remainder of this Licence shall continue in full force and effect.

  332. 10. Complete Agreement. This Licence constitutes the entire agreement 
  333. between the parties with respect to the use of the Software, the related 
  334. documentation and fonts, and supercedes all prior or contemporaneous 
  335. understandings or agreements, written or oral, regarding such subject matter. 
  336. No amendment to or modification of this Licence will be binding unless in 
  337. writing and signed by a duly authorised representative of Centaur
