  6. What's Available

  8.     There are "do-nothing-useful" examples of various capabilities of
  9.     the AMIGA, real development tools, editors, languages, games, and
  10.     other odds & ends.  Also included are machine readable form of many
  11.     of the examples (received directly from C-A sources) out of the
  12.     official AMIGA manuals, including the ROM Kernel Manual.

  15. How To Obtain Disks
  16.  
  17.     First, check with your local dealers and user groups.  Most already
  18.     have many of the disks.  Since these disks can be copied freely,
  19.     and widespread distribution is encouraged, they propagate out to 
  20.     central distribution points fairly quickly.
  21.  
  22.     If you just can't wait, or can't find copies locally, I am willing
  23.     to make these disks available for the cost of media, mailing
  24.     materials, postage, and miscellaneous expenses (like wear and tear
  25.     on my drives).  Naturally, you are encouraged to make copies for 
  26.     your friends, local user groups, dealers, etc.  My goal is to get as
  27.     much software as possible into the hands of people that can use and
  28.     enhance it, and make the AMIGA the success it deserves to be.

  30.     Generally, each disk contains all source necessary to recreate the
  31.     executables provided.  Programs are compiled with the latest Lattice 
  32.     C compiler (and/or Manx C compiler) available at the time of 
  33.     release.  In a very few cases (usually noted in the description) the
  34.     code will not compile or run for some reason, but was considered
  35.     interesting enough to include anyway.

  37.     Disks are typically 85 to 95 percent full.

  40. How to Order

  42.     To order, send a list of the disks you want, and payment in U.S.
  43.     funds to:

  52.     The per disk fee as of August 1988 is as follows:

  54.         1 to 9 disks        $6 per disk
  55.         10 to 49 disks        $5 per disk
  56.         50 to 99 disks        $4 per disk
  57.         100 or more        $3 per disk
  58.  
  59.     The price includes cost of media, mailing materials, and first class
  60.     domestic postage.  Overseas orders add $5 per order for air mail.
  61.     Time and other jobs permitting, all disks will be mailed within
  62.     5 days of receipt of order (most are filled the next day).

  64.     The above prices, address, and phone information is current as of
  65.     August 1988.  If the per disk charge in effect at the time your order
  66.     is received is less than the amount stated above, you will be charged
  67.     the lower rate, and an appropriate credit for the difference added
  68.     to your account.  It is highly unlikely that the per disk charge will
  69.     be higher (it has always decreased, reflecting my decreasing cost
  70.     for disks since beginning distribution of the library).

  72.     Feel free to order more than the current number of disks available.
  73.     Excess funds will be placed "in escrow" (refundable at any time) 
  74.     and drawn against for automatic mailings of future disks as they 
  75.     become available.  These disks will be charged against your account
  76.     at the per disk charge in effect at the time they are shipped.
  77.     I hope to add at least four to six disks per month to the library.

  80. Notes

  82.     Please keep in mind that most of the materials in this library are
  83.     intended for use by experienced programmers, or at least experienced 
  84.     Amiga users.  Many are runnable only via the CLI user interface, as 
  85.     they contain no icon files (particularly the early disks).  If you
  86.     are inexperienced with the Amiga CLI interface, you may need the
  87.     assistance of an experienced user to make use of some of these disks.
  88.     I do not provide telephone support for instructions on how to
  89.     run specific programs from the library.

  91.     I do not guarantee the performance or usability of any of the 
  92.     materials in this library.  I will replace or rewrite, at no
  93.     additional charge, any disk ordered from me which turns out to be
  94.     defective or unreadable.

  97. Catalog Disk
  98.  
  99.     Because the current library has grown so large, it is no longer cost
  100.     effective to distribute a printed catalog.  Therefore, the catalog
  101.     disks replace the printed catalog, and will be updated at each new
  102.     release of disks to reflect the current state of the library.  It
  103.     currently takes two disks to hold a complete catalog.

  105.     There is no duplication fee for the catalog disks.  To receive the
  106.     latest available catalog at any time, simply return the original 
  107.     disks, or send two blank disks, to:

  119.     Note that you can always obtain the latest catalog automatically
  120.     by following the above procedure but specifying that you want
  121.     the disks to be held until the next update.

  124. CAT FISH Catalog Listing
  125.  
  126.     A complete catalog of the entire library cross-referenced by file
  127.     name and subject area is available from the ASCITEC AMIGA User's
  128.     Group for $15.00.  These listings are made using a laser printer
  129.     on double-sided three-hole punched paper for a quality binder
  130.     reference and contain information on disks currently available
  131.     in the library.  Some of the contents include:
  132.  
  133.         Complete listings of all disks and file descriptions
  134.         (README and CONTENTS files) with disk numbers and page
  135.         numbers for each file. Currently 100 pages.
  136.  
  137.         An alphabetic sorted file name cross-reference listing
  138.         with disk and page numbers given for each file.  Duplicate
  139.         file names are sorted with the most recent listed first.
  140.         Currently 16 pages.
  141.  
  142.         A subject category sorted file name cross-reference listing
  143.         based on a three page 15 point major subject category outline
  144.         with disk and page numbers given for each file.  Currently 20
  145.         pages.

  147.         CLI notes for accessing any public domain disk file for
  148.         reading, copying, and execution of files on the disks.
  149.  
  150.         The VCHECK documentation from Disk 126 that describes how 
  151.         to check disks for the "SCA AMIGA VIRUS" and erase it if
  152.         found.

  154.     Future upgrades are easily obtained and incorporated at a very
  155.     low cost.

  157.     The complete CAT FISH library listings cost $15.00.  Future
  158.     upgrades will cost about $6.00.  USA taxes and mailing costs are
  159.     included.  Mailing outside of the USA  and Canada will cost an
  160.     additional $5.00.  Other information will also be included in
  161.     future upgrades based upon prompt user suggestions and feedback.
