SYSOP EDITOR
FOR VERSION 6.x of SE ------------
INCOMPATIBLE WITH PREVIOUS
RELEASES
I. Classification
Warning, this document is highly classified. The Classification level
of this document is "SYSOP EYES ONLY". If you do not have the security
level of "SYSOP", then you must by law of the interplanetary government,
not read the following information.
II. Startup
To start the sysop editor, you must place it in the directory with
the game files. After you do this, it is all set up. Next move to that
directory and type the following, "sysedit". That is all there is to it!
III. Using the Sysop Editor
The sysop editor is set up in a series of menus. Each provides you
with several options. To view the menu of options type a "?". To access
one of the menu options type in the letter or number for that item.
A. Main Menu
The main menu is a top level menu of your options. You only have a few
choices from here, but each leads into a more detail menu. The options
from here are as follows:
(A)lliance Menu -- A menu where you can view and change the
names of the various alliances in the
Universe. NOTE: You can't change the amount
of forces in the alliance from here, but
instead you must do it from the player menu.
(P)layer Menu -- The main use of this program is done in this
menu. This will allow you to edit and modify
almost every value in the game.
(Q)uit -- Just what it says, quit. It will ask you if
you wish to save the changes you have made
during that session.
B. Alliance Menu
This is a simple menu that will allow you to list, view, and change the
names of the alliances. The following options are available:
(L)ist Alliances -- This will list all the alliances.
(D)issolve Alliance -- This will dissolve an alliance.
(C)hange Alliance Name -- This will allow you to change the name of
an alliance.
(Q)uit -- Quit and return to the main menu.
C. Player Menu
This is by far the second most complicated menu. It will give you various
options including:
(L)ist Players -- This will list all the players.
(R)emove Player -- Use this in order to kill an empire.
(M)odify Player -- Leads you to the most complicated menu
in the sysop editor. The main reason
for writing this document.
(Q)uit -- Again, Quits and returns to main menu.
D. Modify Player Menu
This menu isn't really hard to use, and is actually quite simple. The
reason I need to do a write up on it is because in order to save screen
space, I have used several abbreviations, that might not jump right to mind.
Most of them are acronyms.
ID - Inactive Days
SLD - Space Lord Days
PS - Plague Status
IA - Intelligence Agents (AKA - Covert Agents)
TM - Troop Morale
S - Soldiers
F - Fighters
HC - Heavy Cruisers
DS - Defense Stations
TS - Team Soldiers
TDS - Team Defense Stations
THC - Team Heavy Cruisers
US - Used Soldiers
UF - Used Fighters
UHC - Used Heavy Cruisers
UIA - Used Intelligence Agents
FP, OP, DP, and GP - Planets (Food, Ore, Defense, and Government)
Those are the list of terms. Next you get a menu. I will not say much
about them because they are basically self-explanatory. Some like "Military"
are sub-menus. Be warned, that if you give someone protection that has more
planets than the maximum for protection, it will be taken away on their
first turn. Also things like PS (plague status) have maximum values. The
sysop editor will allow you to enter illegal ones. But the Space Empire
itself will correct them.
IV. Save Files?
If for some reason you make a mistake and you can't remember the old value,
just exit the sysop editor. It will ask you if you wish to save the files.
Answer "NO" and the sysop editor will not save the files.
V. Warranty
HA! You expect a warranty on Public Domain Software? Well, put it this
way, I'll give you a warranty and will replace your WHOLE SYSTEM (Yes the
complete system), if you send a donation of around a million or so...
