THE ST-ORGANISER
UPDATES TO THE INSTRUCTION MANUAL
Making a working copy
---------------------
It is most important that you copy the organiser program and files onto a
new disc before you try to use it. If you use the master copy and it
becomes damaged you will have to return it to your dealer for a replacement
- you will normally be charged for this.
To make a working copy you first have to format a new disc. Then copy the
following files from the master disc to the new one:
org.prg - the program
pirsc.rsc - the program's resource file
address.crd - a blank address card format
See the manual which came with your computer it you are unsure of how to
format discs or copy files.
The final stage is to copy a configuration file onto the working disc.
These files can be recognised because their names end in ".CFG". There are
three files on the master disc.
EPSON.CFG - For EPSON FX-80 compatible printers
SLM804.CFG - For use with Atari printers
ORG.CFG - For use with no printer.
Copy ONE of these files onto the working disc and rename it as "ORG.CFG".
This file is read in by ST-Organiser to determine the type of printer you
will be using, amongst other things. See the computer manual for informa-
tion on how to rename files.
The other files on the disc are example data files. You may copy them if
you wish.
**************************************************************************
IMPORTANT
Do not try to use a disc to disc copy to create a working disc. This will
not work. The master disc is formatted to prevent it from being written to
- and copying it will result in a working disc you cannot write to.

Error in some copies of the manual
----------------------------------
A typesetting error in manual incorrectly shows spreadsheet function names
entered in capital letters. The should all be entered in lower case. e.g.
"sum(a1:b2)" rather than "SUM(A1:B2)".
Release notes for version 0.9
1. Notes on using the Alarm:
----------------------------
An Alarm is set by entering a note in the Diary Day notes and clicking on
the Alarm button. Be sure that you click on the [New] button to enter the
note before leaving. You can convert a [todo] or [normal] note into an
Alarm note by selecting it, clicking on the Alarm button, and clicking on
the [Save] button to save the changes.
When the start time of the Alarm note comes around, and you are running ST-
Organiser, a message will be displayed on the screen. You can remove this
by clicking on its [ OK ] button. However, this will not cancel the Alarm.
A bell will ring every couple of seconds for two minutes to remind you of
this.
To cancel an Alarm you must set its note to something other than Alarm (or
delete it). To do this, open the Diary window up, double-click on today's
entry, select the Alarm note and change it. Until you do this, ST-Organiser
will assume that the reason for the Alarm is still valid.
If an Alarm time is passed while you are running some other program, or you
didn't cancel an Alarm from earlier, you will be notified as soon as you
run ST-Organiser later in the day. There is no limit to the number of Alarms
you can have active at any one time.
2. Additions to the Spreadsheet
-------------------------------
After entering the contents of a cell on the edit line, you may now use the
combination of SHIFT together with the appropriate arrow key to enter the
contents of the edit line and move the cursor in the direction of the arrow
key. You should find that this allows you to enter data and formulas much
more quickly.
