Yolanda is based on a game for the Commodore 64, called
Hercules, written back in 1984 by the infamous Steve Bak. The
storyline has been changed somewhat from the original, in the 64
version, the player controlled Hercules and had to complete 12
missions based around the legendary labours of the Greek hero. In the
new version the hero is a woman, thus Hercules became Yolanda ; This
meant a re-think of the background story.
Yolanda is a beautiful Greek Princess ( Living in ancient
Greek times ), who has been cursed by the Goddess Hera, apparently
being envious of Yolanda's beauty. Whomever Yolanda falls in love with
will die horribly within a week of their meeting, however if Yolanda
can re-enact the 12 labours of Hercules the curse will be lifted.
In this demo version the player is placed on the first screen
of one of the first 11 missions ( As in the full game ), if however a
screen is completed you can go no further in that mission. If you die,
a new screen is selected until there are no lives left then the game
ends. The demo defaults to the normal difficulty mode of 4 lives, in
the full game it is possible to attempt to complete the game with
anything from 3 to 1 live, there is also a 6 screen trainer.
