  9. Scion Genealogist is a specialised database for keeping track of
  10. genealogical information.  It features a full, easy to use, Intuition
  11. interface. Version 4.07 is a substantial upgrade to the earlier Version
  12. 3.13. See the "Scion.guide" help file for details on what's new.

  14. The programme is totally non-sexist and secular in nature, and correctly
  15. handles multiple marriages, "unconventional" marriages, adopted children,
  16. and unmarried parents.

  18. The printed reports include descendant and pedigree charts, personal details
  19. reports, family group sheets, index lists of people and families, and many
  20. others. See the "Scion.guide" help file for details on the new reports.

  22. Free-form note files can be created using any editor, and IFF pictures can
  23. be viewed using any IFF viewer, from within the programme.

  25. Other features include dynamic on-screen ancestor and descendant charts,
  26. extensive on-line context-sensitive help (using "AmigaGuide", © Commodore
  27. Business Machines), flexible "regular expression" searching, and multiple
  28. ARexx ports with extensive command set.

  32. Can be used with PAL or NTSC. Works with floppy and/or hard disk drives,
  33. although a hard disk drive is STRONGLY recommended.

  39. REQUIREMENTS

  41. A minimum of 1 Mbyte of RAM is required. This will allow for approximately
  42. 800 people. 4 Mbytes of RAM is required for the full 4999 people.

  44. Scion will use any "virtual" memory allocated by virtual memory managers
  45. such as GigaMem (© Copyright 1991,1992 Christian A Schnedier, F Burgel,
  46. Relog AG) and VMM (© Copyright 1994 Martin Apel).

  48. Kickstart/Workbench v2.04 (or later) required. Version 2.10 (or later)
  49. required for locale support (alternative languages).

  51. Any preferences supported printer capable of printing 80 columns in normal
  52. mode, and 130 columns in condensed (fine) mode. Back-spacing capability
  53. required for printing pedigree charts.
